A DEMONSTRATION RALLY OF SOLIDARITY AND COUNTER-INFORMATION IN THE STATE NARRATIVE THAT WANTS OUR COMRADES BEHIND BARS

On 14/11/21 our comrades Fotis D. and Jason (Iasonas) R. did not stop at a checkpoint carried out by a DIAS team in the area of N. Faliro. Immediately afterwards a pursuit started against them by a vehicle without crossbars, which rammed them on the move risking fatal injury, then they were taken to the G.A.D.A central police headquarters in Athens . There, after compulsory fingerprinting and DNA sampling, they were charged with the attack on the Piraeus traffic police earlier that evening. With invalid evidence, namely, the spreading of false news, since they talked about a house-den and an explosives manufacturing plant, inaccurate statements of cops, which constantly fell into contradictions, it was decided to remand them in custody.

Nearly a year after the arrest of F.D. and I.R., with no trial date set and the case file still open, the investigator had room to implicate more people. On the morning of Tuesday 20/9/21 , State security cops, accompanied by a prosecutor, raided the house of comrades Panagiotis B. and Lambros B. After they were given a summons to appear for the case of the attack on the Piraeus Traffic Police, a house search was conducted, where personal belongings were seized. The comrades were arrested, detained at the GADA and subsequently released.

On 6/10/21, after interrogation in the Piraeus courts, they were remanded in custody once again on the pretext of criminalizing their comradeship and friendly relations with the already remanded for the same case, F.D. and I.R. Despite the many means at the disposal of the E.L.AS, (Greek police) having imprisonment and convictions as their aim, it resorts to the classic method of creating evidence. In particular, they choose to ‘identify’ (through video footage), simple and everyday clothing (for example, ‘cargo pants’). Our comrades are confronted with the following charges:

At dawn on Tuesday 8/2/22, two comrades were arrested following an operation by the “anti-terrorist police”. The reason was the burning of the “Foundation for National and Religious Reflection” in Thessaloniki. In the house where they were arrested, “incriminating” evidence was found which, in the context of the Terror Law, acquires a “felony” character. Later, another comrade was arrested. All three were remanded in Korydallos prison, prosecuted under the Terror Law (187a) for their participation in the organization “Anarchist Action”, the arson of the “Foundation for National and Religious Thought” and other actions.

Anarchist Thanos Chatzianggelou claimed responsibility for this arson and the findings in the house, and later on 10/3/22 he claimed political responsibility for his participation in the organization “Anarchist Action”.

The anarchist Gewrgia Voulgaris defended the choice to have a supporting role in carrying out the action. She remained in custody for 7 months and then the prison board decided to continue her detention under house arrest with an electronic bracelet.

P. Kalaitzis, whose only connection to the case is his relationship with the house and his companion, friendly and collegial relations with T.H. denied all charges and after 7 months of pre-trial detention he was released from prison with restrictive conditions, to sign every 1st and 15th of the month and a ban on leaving the country.

(EN) On Friday, March 17th, at the launch of the presentation of the collective volume – tribute to the work of Altiero Spinelli (“a visionary and one of the great ‘fathers’ of European unification”) at the Italian Educational Institute in Patision – Athens (across the NTUA gate), a political intervention of solidarity with the comrade and hunger striker, since 20/10/22, Alfredo Cospito was held.

Interrupting their civil celebration, in the presence of the ambassador of the Italian state Patrizia Falcinelli and the president of the European Movement of Italy Pier Virgilio Dastoli, the president of the Mediterranean Studies department of the University of the Aegean S. Dalis, the vice president of the European Parliament D. Papadimoulis and the former MEP K. Botopoulou, as well as other big business exploiters and their henchmen who were smitten before the elections in the institutional salons, such as the former minister and current MP G. Katrougalos, we shaked for a while the image of their superiority in their field.

The hypocritical “sensitivity” of Europe’s bourgeois democratic politicians and scholars for rights and federalism (of the economies and the capital), in the media image of 2016, when Renzi, Merkel and Hollande paid tribute to Spinelli’s grave (in favor of the foundations of European unity), was forced to be silent in order to hear the speech of the anarchist hunger striker Alfredo Cospito and the fight against 41bis and against the prison.Slogans were heard, flyers were thrown and we made clear to the present representatives of the former government that we do not forget the passing of the new Penal Code and the way it opened for the condition of incarceration here. Napoli and Pozzuoli, Italy: Raids on houses of comrades in connection to a 270 bis investigation into attacks in solidarity with revolutionary prisoner Dimitris Koufontinas

On March 28, 2023 two houses, one in Napoli and one in Pozzuoli, were raided and four comrades were taken to the police station, in connection with a 270 bis investigation (anti-terrorist association), which was officialized in May 2022 following several house-searches.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, one comrade was placed under preventive arrest, accused of an arson attack against the Greek consulate in 2021. The prosecution contextualizes this attack within the campaign in solidarity with revolutionary Greek prisoner Dimitris Koufontinas, who at the time was on hunger strike.

Today, 4 days after the decision of the Supervisory Court and after the general outcry not only from comrades but also from the whole of the progressive – and not only – world, the Italian media – after days of silence where there is no substantial information about his health condition – are reporting and highlighting the ‘reasons’ for the rejection. Reasons such as the judges’ insistence that Alfredo, in addition to 41bis, ‘could have indicated, organised and communicated hits and targets to the FAI comrades’, with the aim of carrying them out.

At a time when more than 200 lawyers and judges in the country have signed a petition to protest against his illegal detention in 41bis, the media are speaking of the ‘obvious danger’ because of which the court has again rejected the appeal of the defence, bringing back the original decision of the Supreme Court of Rome in December 2022, according to which ‘if Alfredo had remained in maximum security, he would have continued to ‘lean’ on his ‘free associates’ and be a point of reference and a source of indication and planning as to the lines to be followed and the targets to be hit’… .

“Computer pirates in action to give solidarity to Alfredo Cospito, the anarchist leader – previously detained in Sassari, now confined to the Opera penitentiary (Milan) – for months on hunger strike against the harsh prison to which he is subjected and which in recent days has been taken to the hospital for medical checkups.

The attack targeted several cigarette vending machines in Sardinia : after entering the computer system, the hackers managed to make the message “Fuori Alfredo dal 41 bis” appear on the screens. And, further down, “Close the 41 bis free all free all”.

There is no future, not one to wait for, not one to build towards, not one to hope for, no such thing as good progress. “The Governor’s budget continues to support initiatives that keep communities safe, including supporting law enforcement personnel and community-led prevention programs. As part of the Governor’s efforts to reduce violent crime in the State, the budget makes significant investments in the Division of Criminal Justice to staff new units and expand existing units with a focus on reducing gun violence, auto thefts, and exploitation, such as human trafficking and labor cases.

The budget also makes significant investments to strengthen the ranks of the New Jersey State Police, allocating $120 million to begin building a new training center for the next generation of New Jersey State Police and proposing an additional $5 million for the 166th State Trooper recruit class.

Statement Concerning S., Comrade in Life-Threatening Condition Following Protest in Sainte-Soline, France

On Saturday the 25th of March at Sainte-Soline, our comrade S. was hit in the head by an explosive grenade during the protest against the giant retention basins. Despite his critical condition, the prefecture deliberately prevented the emergency services from intervening at first, and from transporting him to a special care unit in a second phase. He is currently in a neurosurgical intensive care. He is still in a critical condition.

The massive outbreak of violence that the protesters have gone through led to hundreds of wounded, and many of them suffered serious physical injuries, as we can read in the various reports available. The 30 000 protesters came with the aim to block the construction site of the Sainte-Soline giant retention basin, which is a water-appropriation project defended by a minority for the benefit of a capitalist model that has nothing more to defend other than death. The violence of the armed wing of the democratic State illustrates it vividly.

There is nothing more disgusting than executioners when they parade as pitiful defenders of Justice. Nothing is more hypocritical than the statements against capital punishment made by upright State representatives against dictatorial regimes that use it to suppress revolts.

In Iran at least the State has the decency to take responsibility for the deaths of its persecuted, inconceivable for a modern, democratic progressive State, which has far more subtle ways to get rid of them.
After all, why bother to kill the rebels who end up in one’s hands? Better to bury them alive in a concrete hole where time and the resulting physical and mental decomposition will take care of the rest. Provided that they do not rehabilitate, of course, which would mean them surrendering their conscience to become dissociated and collaborators. How many, in Italy alone, even if with different experiences, are in the same condition? And let it be clear, this does not detract from the brutality perpetrated against those who see their freedom and dignity taken away, for a short or long period, within the aseptic perimeter of a prison, suffering torture of all kinds by honest champions of order, family men and sons of the homeland.

The request for deferral of Alfredo Cospito’s sentence to house arrest rejected by the Supervisory Courts of Milan and Sassari

27/3/23: The Supervisory Court of Milan replied by rejecting the request for house arrest for health reasons for anarchist prisoner Alfredo Cospito.

At the same time the Sassari court reached the same decision. In both cases with the long motivations already written. The comrade’s behaviour is defined instrumental in obtaining changes in political and judicial decisions.

While contradictions are accumulating within the political and judicial apparatuses (e.g., opinion of the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate, the Attorney General of the Supreme Court, Sibilla re-examination, etc.) each time one is faced with an organ that has the power to resolve the question raised by the comrade’s struggle immediately, the party of the death sentence applies all its political power to block any possible way out.

the observation of a redundancy in our ways of approaching the vast questions of action, certainly also the limits of the instrument itself, are all elements that contributed to our decision to conclude this experience of Storm Warnings. Such a decision might seem paradoxical, knowing that
