2023 Statement from Marius Mason

Dear Community, Family and Friends,

Thank you for the work you are doing to make the change we need to make into the world for our collective survival. Your dedication, support and love are a constant source of inspiration and motivation for me; and I am betting for other prisoners, as well.

This has been as eventful year and a half here at FCI Danbury. My transfer to a male facility had been viewed with great trepidation both by those supportive of trans people and by those who are adamantly opposed to our existence. I’ve had many memorable experiences; some humiliating, some merely annoying and awkward. But, also several that have been rewarding and deeply affirming.

There has definitely been a sense of working things out as we go—the way strip searches have been conducted has been all over the board. Sometimes they have been done by one male staff person, sometimes by one female staff person and several times by several male staff people. Strip searches occur before and after visits, before and after medical trips out, and also when going into the SHU (I had to go there before a medical procedure to fast).

Hunger strike of the imprisoned member of Anarchist Action Thanos Chatzianggelou alongside his comrade Giannis Michailidis.

Our struggles are like journeys. They carry all their contents along the road and not at the destination. And the value of a journey is in sharing it. It is the wild beauty of togetherness.

There is no more room for words – only actions. Today we each have to give a little something, so that some of us don’t have to give everything. And whatever the end, we will be by each other’s side to face it together.

From today, Sunday 11/6, I am starting a hunger strike alongside comrade Giannis Michailidis, demanding the immediate satisfaction of his rights.

21/1/23 In recent years we have seen an extreme attack on the environment by the State and capital with the installation of wind turbines, Eubeia and Bioteia  (Central Greece. Its capital is Livadeia, and its largest city is Thebes.) being prime examples, with more than 50% of the wind turbines already installed nationwide.

Specifically in Elikonas, almost all the peaks are planned to be destroyed, including archaeological sites, while the electricity prices (the energy providers are often the same as the ones who install the wind turbines) have gone red due to the energy tariff. So we decided to make a symbolic gesture and drop the wind mast (which measures the wind and then the installation of the wind turbines) on the peak of Megali Loutsa in Elikonas.

WIND TURBINE SABOTAGE AGAINST THE PLUNDER OF NATURE

30/5/23, Continuing the actions against the installation of wind turbines that overwhelm Helicon, we decided to shoot down the wind tower (measures the wind before the wind turbines are installed) on the top of Tsiveris (1562m). This peak is steep, very steep and rocky, which will lead to its flattening. Finally, it is worth noting that in Tsiveri there live free herds of wild goats that we met during our ascent.

Athens, Koridallos prison : Update on the health condition for the anarchist hunger striker Giannis Michailidis (12/5/23

Today 8/6/23 while the anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis is on his 28th day of hunger strike, resisting the regime of exemption imposed on him by the State and the judicial authorities, his blood sugar dropped to 47 and he was immediately taken to the “St. Paul” hospital for prisoners. He signed a paper to go back to Korydallos prison.

Today the comrade’s clinical observations are as follows:

Weight 57 kilos
Blood pressure 10 over 6
Pulse 60
Blood sugar 47

Our comrade, in the name of dignity and freedom, is again choosing the same torturous path which has already, it seems, created irreparable health problems. In this struggle, however, he has exposed the true face of the judiciary and continues to do so; all that remains is for us to support him in practice until he is with us again. We owe it to ourselves to respond to our comrade’s fortitude and to respond to the countless arbitrary acts of the State.

It is difficult to depict with words what “fur and leather industry” means. We have been used to repeat terms without combining them with physical reality,to replicate them like they are abstract concepts, to forget that they come with the body pain of many,too many, individuals.Maybe the best description of the violent dissociation of animals’ leather and fur industry are these animals’ screams, their silences full of despair, their horror stares. All these happen far away from the well-polished cities,many kilometres away from the shining showcases of the stores that trade what has been stolen from the animals.

They happen for example in Kastoria,Kozani,Ptolemaida,Florina and Grevena where factories-prisons are full of small,dirty cages with weak,scared animals that have not been given even one day of freedom, without having ever been able to run,to play, to find comrades, to explore the forest and sleep quietly under one of its shadows. They grow up in bare minimum,merciless spaces,either being unable to come in touch with other creatures,or being piled up all together without their inherent competitiveness and their need for personal space. For example, minks fight fiercely each other,get seriously injured and stay with their wounds open and infected.Foxes are subjected to generical modifications in order to “offer” more fur while being slaughtered, and as a result they have heavy bodies and auto-immunes diseases that cause them pain every day.

On Saturday 27 May, at 1am, we attacked the Κ.Ε.Π. Citizens advice office of the state)and the  ELΤΑ (post offices)  in Kaisariani area  at the same time, destroying their windows and doors. We carried out this action in solidarity with the anarchist hunger striker from 12/5/23 Giannis Michailidis.

Our comrade is suffering at the hands of the state because of his ideas and action, and has been subjected to multiple mockeries by the bureaucratic apparatus. That is why we too have chosen two cogs of this mechanism as targets.

It was 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, when a fire broke out on the construction site of the new Gondrecourt-le-Château police station, located on the chemin rural de Naville, near the town’s first-aid center. The building, currently undergoing interior refurbishment, is due to be handed over in two months’ time.

The cornerstone for the new 1,500 m² facility was officially laid on December 2, 2021, at a total cost of just over €5 million (excluding VAT), of which €1 million is to be contributed by the local authorities. Construction had been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The future police station, which will include offices, technical facilities, garages and a building housing ten staff quarters, will be built against the backdrop of the Cigéo [nuclear waste burial] project and the Bure laboratory, some fifteen minutes from Gondrecourt-le-Château.

Munich municipal services lose their cars

On the night of May 19, at around 2:30 am, two electric cars belonging to Munich’s municipal services were set on fire in their parking lot in the Sendling district, while connected to their charging station. The two E-Golfs suffered total damage of around €100,000.

According to the police, the city’s cars were probably set on fire deliberately, especially as a two-by-one-meter tag with the inscription “No HKW” (Note of Sans Nom: the municipal cogeneration plant) was in the vicinity of the blaze, suggesting in their Newspeak that “the arson was politically motivated as part of the phenomenon of climate activism”.

We are here for each other, to carry the right of the uncontested, circulating the struggles. With a deep-rooted sense of collectivization and the need to continue to struggle to claim what we are deprived of. Because for us, nothing was ever taken for granted.
