On Saturday 12 February, hundreds of comrades responded to the call of the “Assembly of Solidarity with the imprisoned, fugitives and persecuted militants” to a meeting and march in solidarity with the imprisoned comrade Polycarpos Georgiadis, comrade E.M. and comrade M.T.

At 20:00 began a microphone in Exarcheia Square, during which the text of the assembly on the case was read .The demo march had a strong pulse, during which texts were distributed and flyers were thrown and it was finish .

We take responsibility for the burning of the Exarcheia Police Station on 4.2.22. The attack was carried out by a group of comrades who, armed with the weapons of comradeship and organization, defied the police State and succeeded in destroying the myth of omnipotence that the police systematically cultivate in this area. We attacked with more than 10 Molotov cocktails at the outpost and the entrance of the police station, driving the cops outside in disorderly flight.

A few words about the incident

The tragic management of the pandemic, the sweeping changes it has brought about and the developments of the period are revealing what it has done to the social base. Inflation, poverty, energy poverty, the daily deaths from COVID-19 which have reached 24,000 are the results of capitalist management in order to recover the profitability of capital.

On 9/2 comrades Stathopoulos and Hatzivassiliadis will be tried in second degree. At the same time we do not forget Ch. Mandzouridis who is being tortured in the psycho cells of Korydallos.

Of course we do not expect any justice from the judges and their informers but we remain in solidarity with every political prisoner. The only answer to the culture of incarceration is to attack until we see prisoners of war in the street again. The Greek State, as the border guard of Fortress Europe, has over time followed and expressed in the most emphatic way the anti-immigration policy represented by the European Union. Thus, while at the global level, the political and economic bosses are attempting an unconditional attack against the peoples of the capitalist periphery through wars, military operations, the overthrow of regimes and the imposition of new ones, with the aim of controlling entire regions, the sources of wealth and the exploitation of entire populations, condemning millions of people to misery, poverty, disease and uprooting, at home the far-right neoliberal government of the South-West, from the Evros fence and the concentration camps, to the shipwrecks in the Aegean and illegal repatriations, is expanding its murderous strategy on land and water borders, with the aim of controlling and preventing the flow of refugees and migrants. So as the number of pushbacks from Greece almost doubled in 2021, the number of arrivals on the islands is at its lowest level in recent years, with people being pushed towards other, more deadly routes via the Central and Western Mediterranean and the Atlantic.

Over the past year, the rise in forced returns using violence signals a continuation of the inhuman, degrading and humiliating treatment of refugees and migrants, with theft of personal belongings, stripping, beatings and even abductions in illegal detention centres until their illegal return. The Greek regime, with the assistance of the murderous Frontex mechanism, attempts to obstruct and sink boats and ships carrying refugees and is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of migrants and missing persons in Aegean waters, including children and infants, most recently in the shipwrecks in Paros, Antikythera and Folegandros( Greek islands)

Comrade Haris Mantzouridis has been a prisoner of the State and its mechanisms for 4 months. On 13 October, uniformed masked men of the ELAS  kidnapped him from his house in front of his family and took him to the GADA (police HQ). There he is accused of involvement in a robbery of a safe deposit box in Zografou in 2018 with the only evidence being an “orphan” DNA sample found in adjacent premises after the suggestion that an “anonymous citizen” seems to have made to the cops.

The use of DNA as evidence of guilt while scientifically perverse and false is used extensively by the State and its repressive mechanisms for the hostage-taking and entrapment of militants. At the same time, the existence of an “anonymous phone call” clearly shows the orchestrated effort of the State mechanism to frame the comrade.

The “Breaking the Fear” assembly was created in response to a rape incident in Byron, following a call to collectives. An open assembly was formed that includes collectives and individuals who want to collectively respond to these logics and actions but also to support the complainants, to highlight the incidents in the local community and beyond, and to isolate the rapists and their apologists socially and morally.

To achieve these goals, the assembly organized moto demos, spray painting, poster making and interventions in the neighbourhoods and places of work and residence of rapists and apologists, with the aim of stigmatizing and socially excluding them (video). We also put out informative text, posters (see https://athens.indymedia.org/post/1616566/) and stickers that are stuck up and distributed on a regular basis, highlighting the issue in the neighbourhood.

We are bringing out this update as we have noticed that in the mainstream and the wider media, the events of the last few days, as well as the solidarity march for the Biology squat, completely ignore the fact that Exarcheia was, is and will be a neighbourhood that fights against gentrification and repression. We want to make it clear that these events are mass actions spontaneously flanked by people and prove that no matter how much Mitsotakis (prime minister of greece) and his whole family want, Exarcheia will not submit to their vices.

From this morning, bulldozers and contractor crews have arrived in pedestrian street Messolongiou and proceeded to dig up the pavement in order to put electricity in a new building where a luxury apartment block is being erected. The work is then temporarily halted due to complaints from residents, as police forces arrive at the site. In the evening of the same day, a banner is displayed against the gentrification of Exarchia and people cover the holes that the bulldozers have made in the pedestrian street, filling them with earth.

New blog about hunt sabotage in greece

At this link: https://sabfornonhumans.blackblogs.org/el/ you will find a new blog which was created in order to pubish direct actions regarding hunting and fishing sabotage -and actions with anti-hunting/fishing context in general- in greece. Its english version is here: https://sabfornonhumans.blackblogs.org/en/. However, it is more restricted than the greek one as not all texts have been translated yet.

Moreover, those texts gathered and republished concern only the last years (2017 till today) for now. However, there are more. On December 6, the anniversary of the murder of 15-year-old anarchist Alexis Grigoropoulos, killed by a cop with two bullets in the back in 2008, there were numerous initiatives of struggle.

In the morning, a group of students opened the day; as night fell, a demonstration of thousands of people marched through the center of Athens.

The demonstration left at 18:00 from Propylaiea chanting slogans and heading towards the parliament and from there most of the demonstrators, the most prominent ones, went to Exarcheia, where at 21:00 there was a gathering at the memorial where Alexis was assassinated.

It’s been some time that I wanted my anger to be heard. An anger that awaited for its moment, so that it can be ready to be released from within me. If this denunciation won’t bother everyone, it will bother most, if not then it will bother a few. And for many reasons that I won’t analyse!

I have been active in the anarchist / anti-authoritarian milieu in Thessaloniki since September ‘21 and I was not pleased by many things and generally they do not express me. Because, as Renzo Novatore wrote, “I am an individualist because I am an anarchist and I am an anarchist because I am a nihilist.”

Nevertheless, I did not fall into the trap of dogmatism, I did not stop my activity just because most collectives and squats do not represent post-left anarchy, pure negation, direct action and informalism. Whenever and wherever I could, I showed my solidarity in practice, from participating in postering, to taking part in protests, and only out of personal desire because I was tired from complete isolation in Athens.

“34 YEARS ARE NOT ENOUGH!

Occupied space at Biology school of Thessaloniki – SQUAT FOREVER”

On Thursday, November 18, 2021, we noticed some “changes” inside the building of the School of Biology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). Specifically, in the foyer area, there was plasterboard placed blocking half the space, leaving a corridor between the two entrances of the building. In fact, there were even some visible red marks (X) on certain walls, including one wall of the squatted space marking them for demolition.

After an online search at the Ministry of Digital Governance and Transparency program webpage, we found out that on September 16th, 2021, there was a post for an ongoing project, titled: “RECONSTRUCTION NEEDS FOR THE SCHOOL OF SCIENCES, neighbouring building”, commissioned for 1,320,600.00 euro. One of the stipulates was to complete the project within 16 months from the signed agreement and start the demolition of the marked walls within 4 months (until January 2022). From the layout plans it is clear that they intend to repurpose the squatted space as a “waiting area” – something “extremely viable” for the functionality of the school. The immediate threat for eviction, comes directly by rectors and contractors who have already started remodelling the “unused” spaces…
