Hunger strike from 12/5/23 of the anarchist prisoner comrade Giannis Michailidis (Greece)

Hunger strike from 12/5/23 of the anarchist Giannis Michailidis

Recognizing that there are social issues more important than my release from prison, I am making a second attempt to publicize the dirty war I have received from government and judicial mechanisms. I will refrain from going into what had happened up to this time last year to avoid tedious repetition. I will pick up the thread from the suspension of the hunger strike last July. A misguided choice that came after unrealistic promises on the part of the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Court judge who is the umbilical cord between the judiciary and the government to immediately grant my request on the extortionate condition that I would first suspend the strike and that this would not be exposed..

According to him, I had to suspend the strike, make a new application for suspension in Amfissa and he would pick up his phone as long as it did not become public, otherwise the agreement would cease to be valid. I made the mistake of assuming they would fulfill their promises because they would calculate their exposure, which in a controlled media environment proved to be a disastrous illusion. My isolation under the special detention regime of the Lamia hospital, which cut me off from my close comrades, contributed to this false choice as I was unable to consult the only people who had both the facts and the political acumen to recognise in time that this was a fraud.

The result was that I lost another year of my life, slowly and agonizingly waiting for the decisions of the judicial councils. Unexplained bureaucratic delays of the decision that would supposedly release me in September, until December. At this point I should have already started anew, but realizing the blow to my credibility as I was drawn into the State trap, it was not an easy choice at all. So I decided to wait until the statute of limitations had expired on the trumped-up case that was used as a pretext to have my licenses cut off, postponing the next battle. They then took every care to deprive me of any legal right to any leave, educational or tactical, that could possibly pave the way for my bloodless victory. At the same time, the tribunals demanded statements of legitimacy by asking me questions along the lines of “does your ideology allow you to never again violate the law?” And the renunciation of ideas and partner relationships is made a condition for an eventual release, which if so, may it never come.

Athens, Greece: Claim of responsibility – incendiary attack on a Volkswagen dealership by anarchists

Athens, Claim of responsibility – incendiary attack on a Volkswagen dealership.

The future dystopia of a life fully controlled by smart cities, 5G, in which your refrigerator communicates with your mobile phone or a street lamp, and supermarkets offer you everything you want from the (anti)social media, is already here. Everything is more and more connected and everything is monitored. It is a future where people will be controlled by the artificial intelligence of big capital – big data and machine learning. Whatever information capital collects is shared with the State. Technology means repression, blackmail and total social control.

At the same time, the ecological war for resources called green energy is nothing more than a new form of slavery on other continents, allowing Western capitalism to be as independent as Russian gas or oil-producing countries. All this is another great stage of capitalism – green capitalism. It is the exploitation of the climate crisis and biological extinction by capital and the State.

When the N.D. government took power, an unprecedented upgrading of the repressive apparatus in numbers and technical equipment began. The cops are used as a solution to every “problem”: The pandemic, the universities, demonstrations and protests of every kind, the gentrification of Athens. Cops are the number one medicine for everything.

Athens,Greece: Text regarding the situation in Exarcheia .

Text regarding the situation in Exarcheia

Exarcheia finds itself in a moment of existential crisis. However, while most groups are focusing on the external forces that threaten the neighborhood, they are ignoring some of the internal conditions that have helped bring us to this point.

While gentrification proceeds apace and the police occupy the neighborhood, direct action and intervention in order to transform the material socio-spatial conditions of the neighborhood have been discarded for mere performative actions.

For example, despite ample foreknowledge that state forces were coming to the square, the slew of assemblies purporting to “defend” Exarcheia made no move to prohibit this act. Months before the event, the decision was made (with no hesitation) to simply surrender the square and then hold a demo. The discussions in the lead-up revolved mainly around organizational concerns, such as where to meet, what time to hold an assembly, etc. Once the metal sheets were installed and the police permanently stationed, members of the movement then engaged in a series of fruitless performative acts, including some that contained elements of self-indulgent martyrdom.

Larissa court,Greece: Statement by the imprisoned member of Anarchist Action, Thanos Hatziangelou, on taking political responsibility, and the political substance of the trial of the organisation

Statement by the imprisoned member of Anarchist Action, Thanos Chatziaggelou, on taking political responsibility, and the political substance of the trial of the organisation.

This trial is a political trial, a trial of subjects who are in the crosshairs of institutionalised terrorism, not only for their actions but for their political constitution and for taking the right side in the class war. No matter how great the attempt to decontextualize the content and selfless motives of the acts in the upcoming trial by talking about common crime, in reality the State is itself sealing the political character of the trial with its special laws, our exemption and surveillance status, security measures, interpretation of anti-terrorist provisions and a possible heavy sentence dictated by the anti-terrorist echelons.

And yet, instead of seeing people cowering in fear of prison and pervasive terrorism, you see each of us standing proud of the choices and values that define our lives. And that in defiance of the times and your monopoly of monopoly the greatest danger lurks, that this trial will override the evidentiary process and turn into a trial of intent.

In the face of a system that does not even have the courage to assume its political responsibilities, proudly and without a second thought I take political responsibility for my commitment to Anarchist Action, because my word of honour and commitment to the Revolutionary Cause left me no room to abandon the political substance and history of the form I participated in at your hands.

In an era of political apathy towards revolutionary action and the relativisation of tasks and demands in the face of one’s personal expectations and pleasures, the assertion of political responsibility is itself an aggressive move. My individual political constitution, my priorities, my loyalty and dedication to the tasks of the revolution do not allow me to treat my life lightly. I have assumed the political responsibility to be coherent first and foremost with myself and my comrades, alongside whom my commitment to Anarchy was, is and will forever remain a binding oath of complicity. To defend Anarchist Action against a slanderous narrative that would attempt to cut off actions from motives and historical context, for the requirements of the institutionalized and legally enforced violence of the State and its lackeys.

Athens, Greece: Taking responsibility for attacks on Airbnb, hotels and cameras in Exarcheia area in Athens by Anarchists

Athens: Taking responsibility for attacks on Airbnb, hotels and cameras in Exarcheia area in Athens by Anarchists

Expert from the action claim :

For our part, as a part of the people who consider the neighbourhood of Exarchia to be of key importance for the perspective of the struggle, who want Exarcheia to remain a field of fermentation, politicisation and resistance, we choose to respond to the multiform violence that power is unleashing in a coordinated manner against us and against our structures and neighbourhoods. We call on the world of the neighbourhood, the world of self-organised radical struggle to choose to confront the State and capital, however they appear by invading Exarcheia and beyond.

To attack in practice and with every available means the investments/digging that are attempting to wipe us out. Perhaps an attack that lasts over time, a “war of attrition” on our part, even in material terms, will be able, alongside all the other struggles centred on Exarcheia that have been and are being done over time, to stand as a real barrier to the designs of domination.

Responsibility claim for the attack on the head of the Prison Control Inspectorate by Direct Action Cells – ‘Cell Katerina Goulioni’ (Athens,Greece)

Direct Action Cells take responsibility for the attack with a low-power incendiary/explosive device at the home of the head of the Inspection and Control Corps of Detention Facilities and Deputy Prosecutor of Appeals Spyridoula Presveias at 13 Solomou Street in the area of Glyfada, in the early hours of 1/4.

——————————————————————————

We are sending a clear message to prison prosecutors, prison wardens, prison officers, managers, directors, social workers who choose to treat prisoners as second-class citizens. Who choose to play dirty political games on their backs. Who become agents of the Ministry of Civil Protection in order to advance themselves and their careers. Gather round because you will find us in front of you. The prosecutor we targeted is the head of the institution responsible for the internal control of prisons and is directly responsible for all the injustices suffered by prisoners, especially after the passage of the new penal and new prison code.

Spyridoula Presveias as the head of the Prison Inspection and Control Corps (ΣΕΕΚΚ) is the person whose responsibilities concern the most authoritarian parts of anti-crime policy. He was appointed by the (former) secretary general of anti-crime policy Sophia Nikolaou, a failed New Democracy politician and declared enemy of prisoners, who a few years ago did everything in her power to try to murder the communist revolutionary Dimitris Koufontinas.

Athens, Greece: Expropriation of Supermarket by Anarchists

Athens: Expropriation of Supermarket by Anarchists

extract from the action flier:

On Wednesday 5/4/23 we chose to expropriate products from the AB Vassilopoulos chain in the area of Zografou.

Capitalism’s ease in creating ephemeral consumption needs is one reason it can be assimilated into any social condition, which is what makes it so durable. However, although this condition is often found in our daily lives, we cannot ignore the fact that some of our needs are pushed aside as we are forced to feed ourselves with low quality products while our class opponents have access to better products, which has a direct impact on our overall quality of life.

ANTISPECIESTIST ANARCHISTS PROTEST A HUNTING EXPO (Athens,Greece)

ANTISPECIESTIST ANARCHISTS PROTEST A HUNTING EXPO

We have received a reportback from a demo against hunting in Athens, Greece. Read their words below:

“On Sunday 2 April, a group of antispeciesists was gathered outside the Mediterranean Exhibition Center in Athens to protest against hunting.

A translated part of the antispeciesists call is following:

Antispeciesism and anarchy: connecting the struggles

Human imposition on non-human animals is perhaps the most common and normalized form of violence. In particular, hunting, which has always been a show off power of the ruling class and has a historical role in the imposition of man over non-human animals. Proclamation of power and masculinity are the main characteristics of hunting. The young boys become men by executing and posing with the lifeless bodies of those they have murdered.
