Berlin (Germany): fire to the cell towers of technological progress and militarization

[On the night of Saturday to Sunday, July 7, two cell towers went up in smoke in Berlin. One of them was located in the Tempelhof district, more precisely in the aptly named Attilastraße, where the fire was reported at around 2am. The tower was located on the site of a cell phone operator, and the State Protection Service (Staatsschutz) was in charge of the investigation. This action is a contribution to the struggle against technology, militarization and domination.

In recent years, we have become accustomed to being surrounded by more and more cell towers, which have become part of our environment. These antennae and the cell phone network are essential to enable the digitization of our lives, to realize the Smart City and to develop (military) technology and social control in general.

As we are unfortunately repeatedly confronted with groups that support the Ukrainian side in the war between Russia and the Ukraine from an allegedly “anarchist” position, and as an article appeared in April (When ideology gets in the way of solidarity) in which ABC-Belarus was surprised that we described them as supporters of the war and therefore we did not invite them to the bookfair, here are a few words from us. More than once we have had the dubious pleasure of being involved in discussions with people who call themselves “anarchists” and supporters of the Ukrainian side in the Russian-Ukrainian war, people who are also referred to by some as anarcho-militarists, anarcho-nationalists, NATO anarchists and the like – specifically, we are talking about ABC-Belarus, ABC-Dresden, Operation Solidarity/Solidarity Collective and all groups that support the war – whereby it should be noted that we personally deny that they are anarchists as a matter of course. Among other things, it has been shown that, contrary to their claim to seek debate, they do not do so, but instead skillfully ignore every counter-argument and move deftly at a level that can sometimes be confidently described as populist and statist.

What they are looking for is an approval and anyone who doesn’t give it to them is then accused of Putinism, Westplaining, etc. And even if their arguments have changed over the course of time and certainly also due to the course of the war in the Ukraine, they are still generally repeated again and again. In the following lines, we will address these arguments, as they have been expressed to us and in some cases published, and explain once again why these groups support the war and why we do not consider them as anarchist comrades, despite all the praiseworthy and important work they do and have done in the field of prisoner support.

Σε μια πρόσφατη κατασταλτική επιχείρηση εναντίον ενός αναρχικού, η αστυνομία παρακολούθησε τη γεωγραφική θέση του flip phone του υπόπτου σε πραγματικό χρόνο και έφτιαξε μια λίστα με όλους όσους είχε καλέσει ο ύποπτος. Ας μην κάνουμε τη δουλειά της αστυνομίας και των υπηρεσιών πληροφοριών τόσο εύκολη, παραδίδοντάς τους τα κοινωνικά μας δίκτυα και το ιστορικό γεωγραφικού εντοπισμού σε ασημένιο πιάτο.

Editorial

The second issue of a magazine like this is, for us, a great success. Not only are we pleased, which would be obvious, we are also a little surprised. We were under no illusions, and still do not have any. They call it a celebration? We see it as a celebration of nationalism, a gigantic staging of the subjugation of populations by states.

Underneath their friendly, playful guise, the Olympic Games provide a testing ground for police crowd management and the generalized control of our movements.

Like all major sporting events, they are also an opportunity to worship the values that underpin the world of power and money, generalized competition, performance at all costs, sacrifice for the sake of national interest and glory.

The call to identify with an imaginary community and to support the side to which one supposedly belongs is no less harmful than the permanent incitement to see one’s salvation in the health of one’s national economy and the strength of one’s national army.

High-voltage cables set on fire: ultra-left suspected

A new electrical sabotage attack took place overnight in the Grenoble area on Monday night, as Le Dauphiné Libéré learned from corroborating sources on Wednesday morning: in the commune of Noyarey, 20,000 volt electrical cables were set on fire along the RD 1532, the incident apparently only being discovered late on Tuesday afternoon. During the night of June 12-13, two 20,000-volt power transformers were set on fire on avenue du Grand Sablons in La Tronche and avenue de l’Europe in Grenoble, leaving 2,000 homes and businesses without power.

In Noyarey, the perpetrators of this latest attack targeted easily accessible cables that cross a small stream, the Ruisset (or Gélinot stream), at the level of a small bridge over the RD 1532. The fire caused extensive damage to these cables, but it seems that there were no major power cuts in the neighborhood, either to homes or to neighboring businesses, which would explain why the fire was only discovered on Tuesday afternoon.

Yesterday, on this same site, we made a roundup  of the repressive events that took place at dawn on July 6 in the context of the commemoration of the death of comrade Luisa Toledo. Now, we’re adding information relating to the attempted explosive attacks and updating the news regarding legal status. The situation is as follows:

-Today (July 9) the Court of Appeals accepted the petition of the Southern Prosecutor’s Office and determined pre-trial prison for the 9 comrades whose detentions had at first been declared illegal by the 6th Guarantee Court. These comrades were processed by the Law of Arms Control in flagrante delicto: Daniel Yáñez Seguel, Ismael Almonacid Sánchez, Tomás Montenegro Astudillo, Ricardo Alvarado García, Patricio Araya Muñoz, René Camacho Cáceres, Marcelo Ahumada Jiménez, Roberto Ocampo Binder, and Sebastián Moncada Román.

-The comrade (companera )whose lawyer had proposed a bond of 1 million pesos also remained in pre-trial prison, and the bail was rejected today. Milán Miranda is being processed for possession of an explosive device and possession of explosives, after they found a homemade grenade with black powder and industrial explosive material in his house.

-José Araya Vidal, the comrade who suffered a fracture in a motorcycle accident during the operation and was later hospitalized also remains in pre-trial prison and is set apart as the only one accused of planting explosive devices.

Rote Zora was a women’s armed struggle group agitating in Germany in the 1970s through to the 1990s. The group originated as a feminist breakaway from the Revolutionary Cells, inspiring an entire generation to fight against patriarchy in all its expressions: (gene) technology, medical, domestic and systemic violence, rape culture, religious power, the medical industry, the war industry – exploitation and oppression at work, in the streets, and at home.

With glue, spraypaint, arson, poetry and bombs, they fought against the old world they lived in, with a burning desire for a new world without oppression, exploitation or war. Together, we will watch the documentary “Frauen bildet Banden!” (women, form gangs!) from 2019, made by FrauenLesbenFilmCollectif Las Otras, in which a number of Rote Zoras share with us their experiences about the struggle against patriarchy, connecting the struggles of the past with the opportunities that lie ahead of us today.

topics they have brought to the table back then and that might inspire us today.
