Responsibility taken for sabotage 6 at an ATM of Optima Bank of the Vardinoyannis group 

For 78 years, the murderous state of Israel has been imposing an Apartheid regime on the Palestinian territory through continuous bombing, artificial famine, imprisonment, murder, torture and military incursions into the territories inhabited by the Palestinian people. In waging this war of extermination, it has the unwavering support of the Western Front: the US state, the EU, and NATO. This pact of expansionist policies of states and capital is being realised in parallel with the US and Israeli attacks on Iran and Lebanon, as well as the recent US invasion of Venezuela.

The Greek state, having taken, and actively and consciously chosen its position as a member of the EU and NATO and as an ally of Israel, is de facto complicit in the genocide being committed against the Palestinian people. Alongside it, Greek capital, radically connected and mutually supportive of the Greek state, takes part in the most active role.

Among the most prominent figures in Greek big business, the Vardinoyannis family, one of the 50 richest families in Europe, is active in almost the entire domestic economy, but also in the global one, involved in sectors ranging from war and energy, to banks and the media.

In the war, the Vardinoyannis group’s involvement is mainly through Motor Oil, one of the largest groups of companies in the oil refining sector in the Balkans. Their fuels are distributed to war bases around the world. This fuel is supplied to 43 US military bases, including Souda in Crete. They use it to fuel military installations and vehicles, fighter jets, transports and aircraft carriers. From 2005 to 2025, Motor Oil has been awarded contracts worth 6.7 billion dollars by the US Department of War, while it is the third largest supplier of fuel to the US military in the world.

Motor Oil also works with Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia, providing it with crude oil. This is one of the reasons for the Patriot battery on the west coast of Saudi Arabia since September 2021 and Greece’s involvement in the war with Iran this year by shooting down missiles targeting oil facilities in Riyadh.

Vardinoyannis’s activity in the field of Renewable Energy Sources should not seem at all contradictory to the above, since we know very well that the RES industry is developing hand in hand with the oil industry. The example of the wind turbines in Dirfy, in direct contrast to the extraction and processing of oil in the Balkans, an undoubtedly destructive process for nature and the human and non-human beings that make it up, shows exactly this: that the Vardinoyannis capital has no concern for what it calls “the environment”, except for profit and the expansion of, in general, human, and in particular, its own, power over it.

The family we are dealing also gives a significant contribution to the Greek armed forces, as this year the Vardinoyannis Foundation and Motor Oil donated one patrol boat and 4 vehicles to the Greek Coast Guard, while last year Motor Oil announced a donation of 5 million to the navy, as part of an honorary event of the Ministry of National Defence “for the long-term contribution of the Vardinoyannis Group to the navy”.

Therefore, it should not surprise us that since the start of the Palestinian genocide, this company has dramatically increased its revenues, reporting a 50% increase in profits in 2025 and a 293% increase in the first quarter of 2026, and continues.

And how are these profits recycled? In the eternal cycle of capital turnover, the operation of banks is also fundamental. The banks, whose role in the capitalist system is the production and reproduction of wealth, among other things, through loans and investments, which within the crisis and outside it played and play a dominant role in the bloodletting of those beneath them, in the manipulation of global markets, and whose pre-planned failure and the total collapse of the financial system led to the even more shameful impoverishment of people, continue today to exploit the work of the world by extracting wealth from it. Of course, Vardinoyanniko would not be missing from this equation, as it is a major shareholder of the Optima Bank banking group, with dozens of branches throughout Greece. Sabotage, attacks and expropriation of banks are just some of the means to return the violence they inflict on us daily, to take back what is ours. In particular, the choice of expropriation is a dignified stance against the daily labour slavery and bloodletting that all people of our class must endure in order to survive. The “bank robbers” as the media like to call them, are a beacon of radicalization in the times of resignation and enslavement in which we live.

If anyone is wondering why these facts are not known to the “public”, the answer lies in the fact that the Vardinoyannis group has its hand in politics and the media. It is in direct communication with the Mitsotakis – Kefalogiannis – Bakoyannis families, while maintaining excellent relations with Kanellis and the KKE, with PASOK, with Pollakis and SYRIZA, to name just a few. The connections of the giant family-group extend across the entire spectrum of the Greek political scene. At the same time, it controls 1/3 of the country’s private television stations: Star and Alpha. In addition, just 3 months ago it concluded an agreement with Vangelis Marinakis’ Alter-Ego Media and AntennaTV that provides for its equal participation in the ANT1 channel.

Against all this stand the areas of society in struggle, sabotaging the war of states and capital against peoples, human and non-human animals, whether it is carried out with bombs, displacement, the destruction of space, or poverty and misery. We attack the structures of capital, the nuclei of power accumulation, directly and every day we seek where it will hurt them the most. In turn we are for the targeting of the Vardinoyannis family group and companies with every means and every pretext.

Thus, in the last two weeks we proceeded to sabotage 6 Optima Bank ATMs in Pagrati, Neo Psychiko, Agia Paraskevi, Peristeri, Nea Smyrni and Vas. Sofias by destroying the card slots of the machines. The method and materials used are simple, as only by using a strong glue and a phone card or any other card, the ATM is blocked and even for a short period of time the operation of the bank is disrupted and minimal damage is caused, in a safe and fast way.

For our part, we declare that since the war against our lives continues, our insurgent and revolutionary struggle also continues, until the demolition of every border and every prison, the elimination of profit, the overthrowing of every state and every authority, until the society of solidarity, equality, self-organization and freedom.
