Update from a motorcycle demo in solidarity with those accused for the expropriation of the bank in Kato Tithorea
On 24/05, a large number of comrades held a motorcycle demo in solidarity with the 8 comrades prosecuted for the expropriation of the bank in Kato Tithorea. Starting from Syngrou Avenue – the Fix metro station, we closed Syngrou Avenue and moved south, making stops at the central news stations 24media and SKAI, shouting slogans, throwing fliers and lighting flares. A similar stop was also made at the offices of New Democracy (in Moschato area). The motorcycle demo ended with slogans at the 4th anti-authoritarian bookfair in Mercouri Square in Ano Petralona.
From the very first moment of the comrades’ arrest, the media, using phraseology loaded with the contents of domination, set out to present the comrades as “marginalized delinquents, common criminals in possession of narcotics or fanatic fans”, believing that these characterizations would sound negative to the ears of the average reader, shifting attention from the act itself to the identity of the participants in it, attributing a negative connotation to the entire situation. Their aim is to avoid the connection and identification of the social whole with our comrades and their struggle, which concerns us all.
The stance of our comrades and the anarchist space in solidarity with them highlights the dignified position of the comrades who, despite adverse circumstances, stand as equals of their choice by assuming their political responsibility, at the same time as the fearless stance of those in solidarity who, ignoring any state dossier, stand openly with the comrades, turning their voice into a bulwark to defend the action, giving a signal of continuity in the struggles despite state threats.
