From the cell I remember the smell of the barricade, the smoking tires, the springs after the mattress was consumed and the neighbors with their contributions to the bonfire. I remember the mask like yesterday, the gloves, the iron in the belly, the clean bullets, the heavy backpacks, the desire to see if one day, a 29th, they’d pay this time and not us. I remember gathering the materials, coordinating with comrades, leaving to the street, the neighbor who told me “take care, son”, or the neighbor who asked me if I was going to hunt ghosts, the whistle of the first shot, I remember the crying eyes after the first teargas, running up to the post, the parapet and the moment. Advancing dressed like the night, good moments, that I hope many can and want to live, because it’s necessary to return the blows, nothing can remain unpunished.
March 29th commemorates Mauricio Maigret, Paulina Aguirre, brothers Eduardo and Rafael Vergara who were heinously assassinated, in memory of their ideas, their consequence, and their valor for, in a context of dictatorship and death, daring to do something in the bloodiest moments of this country. Not letting fear immobilize them, motivated by inequality and love for their peers, neighbors, families and comrades, these desires of justice faced with so much abuse that remains present today as yesterday. As new generations we learn from the history of those who fought before, releasing ourselves from arrogance, we must learn from the successes and errors in order to be more prepared facing the repression of power. On the 29th the street is ours, on the corners of the neighborhoods the stage for combat is set.
A warm embrace to those who go out on the street, to those who feel the need to respond to the bullets, those which killed so many of our own, like Sebastián Overluij, Norma Vergara, Emilia Bau, locals like Anibal Villarroel, respond and break the murderous silence that killed 81 charred prisoners, or Macarena Valdés, Alejandro Castro, Daniela Carrasco, Santiago Maldonado, combat the brutality that killed Araceli Romo and Pablo Vergara, Matías Catrileo, the commanders of the FPMR José Miguel and Tamara, teachers cut, there are so many names for the amount of paper. In the memory of those who lived and died in dignity and with their principles, irreducible, because it’s the dead of yesterday who in other times fought the same enemies that we continue to confront in the present and who continue killing in impunity.
Breaking with comfort and intensifying the realization of the conflict, on this path there are different trenches. We must know which one to position ourselves in and from there be able to contribute with wisdom and humility. Each gesture is a bullet, that one day could cross the bodies of those responsible, because we also have to keep the names of those who were the assassins of our dead in our memory, like William Vera, Francisco Jara Jarpa, like the owners of RP Global, or the agents of the state an the list will continue because those who benefit from impunity are many. The assassins exist, live, and move peacefully through their areas, those who repress the people who protest in the neighborhoods and the prisoners in the prisons. There are many lives to avenge, there are so many lives snatched away, too much blood to ever forget.
Something has to be done, you can’t keep talking nor waiting for moments. Ideas without acts are only for grist for the mill, mental masturbation. There’s so much to do and little to say, this is why we have to educate ourselves, learn, be more strategic, know how to recognize our errors and those of our comrades and learn from them, because nowhere will we find a manual. It’s natural to make mistakes but the task is to get better, to make ourselves more dangerous and capable of confronting and matching up to the circumstances and keep fighting against this system of unequal distribution and domination, in the memory always of our dead!
Nothing is finished!
Iron and vengeance against power and its hitmen!
Find the conditions!
