[Switch Off The System] The Repression Against Climate Activists Will Not Go Unanswered
In recent months, the repression against climate activists in Germany has been permanently intensified. In the media coverage, the Last Generation (LG) in particular, gets the most attention. Investigations by the General Prosecutor’s Office in Munich for the formation of a so-called criminal organization, house searches, preventive detention for sit-in blockades, etc. Now the Berlin prosecutor’s office has announced that in the future, street blockaders will be tried with the so-called fast-track procedure. The Code of Criminal Procedure allows the judiciary to do this if the accusations against the accused are “suitable for immediate trial due to the simple facts or clear evidence”.
We understand the actions of the Munich and Berlin prosecutors as an attack on all activists of the climate justice movement, not only against the LG (Last Generation). Therefore, as a first reaction, during the night of July 9 to July 10, we targeted two BMW SUVs by means of an incendiary device and forced them into early retirement. This measure was suitable for immediate full retirement due to the simple facts of the case and the clear evidence (superfluous luxury cars and devastating CO2 emissions). We were inspired by the arson attacks of May 19 and July 4: E-vehicles of Stadtwerke München; a Tesla charging station + a Tesla + an electric mini.
