A case that four and a half years ago gave him a 35-year sentence. This trial is expected to close another judicial chapter, the last, of a case that has occupied the domestic radical movement for at least fifteen years, and which exposed four comrades to the vengeful fury of the State authorities, with bounties on their heads, years of illegality, imprisonment, and a serious injury and amputation for one of them, Simos Seisidis.

This trial, as well as the repressive operation that preceded it, the subsequent management by the anti-terrorist police, the massive dissemination of false news and the creation of a climate of terrorism by the well-known media centres, is a standard methodology followed by the State and is part of the strategies of pre-emptive counter-insurgency that have been applied fiercely against the movement for more than a 10 years..
The solidarity movement stands by the comrade because it knows well that whoever forgets the prisoners of the social – class war will eventually forget the war itself. Because the consistent presence of the comrade and his multifaceted contribution to the movement opens up paths, proving that struggle means political commitment and loyalty to the cause.

19 years in prison without evidence
In April, 2021 the anarchist Vangelis Stathopoulos was sentenced by the Criminal Court of Appeal to 19 years in prison. Our comrade has been in custody since November 2019, in the first repressive operation of New Democracy – after coming to power – regarding the imprisonment of militants through trumped up charges and blatant plots.
Vangelis Stathopoulos, when asked, provided first aid to an injured comrade. The court of appeal, presided over by Maria Giannakopoulou – the same judge who had convicted Tasos Theofilou in the first instance – sentenced him to 19 years in prison for participation in the “Revolutionary Self-Defence” organisation and for theft in an ΟΠΑΠ store (the biggest Gambling company in Greece).

On 13/10/21 the state mechanism through the ELAS ( general greek police} and more specifically the ΥΔΕΖΙ (crimes against property) service proceeded with the kidnapping of comrade Harry Mantzouridis outside his house, where he lives with his partner and their child. The tactic is well known and much used over the years, they surrounded him, ostensibly to take him to the GADA (Attica General Police Directorate) under the pretext of arraignment because after an “anonymous phone call” (sic) a week earlier, he was suspected of robbery and was summarily found handcuffed, beaten before the eyes of the surprised neighbourhood and surrounded by the security guards.
We know the character of the police officers and if there is a reason to analyze and enumerate their atrocities, it is simply so that one does not forget who we are up against and what they are capable of doing. For the organs of the state it is just a Wednesday where they use disproportionate violence to stomp on a man in front of his young child, it is just a Wednesday when they handcuffed a man who is not charged with anything and according to them is indicted, it is just a Wednesday when they defame a man and spread the word that he molested a young girl, it was just a Wednesday.

Argenteuil (Val-d’Oise): The police station targeted after cops injured a teenager

Mortar fire targeted the police station and police officers in Argenteuil (Val d’Oise) on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 November. These attacks, perpetrated by about fifty young people, would be a sign of protest against the LBD [launcher of defence balls] shooting that injured a teenager earlier in the evening of Saturday.
On the images circulating on social networks, we see the young man with a broken nose and a swollen face. On Sunday evening, dozens of individuals attacked the Argenteuil police station.
A reinforced security device was then put in place in the district of the Dalle. Calm returned during the night. No injuries were reported and no arrests were made.

Between 20 and 30 young people dressed in black tried to set fire to the police station of the district of Argenteuil while it was unoccupied, Monday evening. Aged about 13 or 14, they placed a trash can in front of the building and set it on fire. They also threw projectiles at the building and damaged windows on the second floor. The latter are not police premises but those of the social branch of the departmental council, which includes a maternal and child protection centre.

During the night of November 2 to 3, 2021, we carried out a coordinated attack on three cell towers around Saint-Etienne by setting them on fire.
(And not one, as the media tried to claim!)
This cut off telephone communications and momentarily interrupted the dependency that the techno-world requires in order to persist.
(We could take the Thales arms factory in the neighbouring town as an example, or the 80,000 people deprived of telephones for the week, but there are many others…)

At dawn on 11 November, a number of searches were carried out in various Italian cities and six comrades were served with orders for precautionary measures: in prison for Alfredo, under house arrest for Michele, and an obligation to remain and sign three times a week for four other comrades.
The comrades are suspected of the crime of art. 270 bis (subversive association for the purpose of terrorism and subversion of the democratic order) for the conception, editing, printing and dissemination, including via computer and telematic tools, of the anarchist paper “Vetriolo“, for wall writings with content considered outrageous and instigatory and for an episode of damage. They were also charged with Article 414 (incitement to commit crimes), for drawing up and disseminating communiqués containing incitement to commit crimes against the State in person, for the purposes of terrorism and subversion of the democratic order.
In addition to this, two counter-information websites, roundrobin.info and malacoda.noblogs.org, were obliterated because they were considered an aggravating factor in the specific crime of incitement (through a digital instrument).
The investigation starts in the year 2017 in Milan, from the beginning of the newspaper’s editorial experience, then was passed to the Perugia prosecutor’s office until today, and reviews the content of the anarchist propaganda articles that are declared dangerous for their communicative effectiveness and the spreading of the radical idea.

Bologna, Italy – Sunday 28th November, gathering outside La Dozza prison
After the revolts of March 2020 in prisons all over Italy, hundreds of prisoners were put on trial for having protested in defence of their health in full Covid emergency. 50 prisoners are on trial in Bologna and 70 in Modena. Right in the Sant’Anna prison 9 people were killed by screws with beatings and gunshots, but this was covered up and investigations against the prison police were soon filed away, while Modena prosecutors extended investigations on the prisoners.
We are going back outside the prison to express all our solidarity with those who experience prison violence on their skin every day. Alongside anarchist prisoner Beppe, and Mattia, the prisoner who a year ago told the truth about the massacre in the jail of Modena.

It was the ROS carabinieri (led by General Pasquale Angelosanto) who enforced measures ordered by investigating judge Valerio D’Andria, resulting in 6 anarchist comrades being subjected to custodial measures and investigated for instigation to commit crime aggravated by purposes of terrorism and subversion of the democratic order.

11th November 2021 dozens of searches were carried out in the homes of anarchist comrades in Genoa, Carrara, Pisa, Cremona, Bergamo, Roma, Perugia, Viterbo, Lecce, Taranto, Cosenza and Cagliari before dawn. The investigation carried out by the ROS carabinieri on order of Perugia prosecutors focuses on anarchist sobillazioni [instigations], particularly the paper Vetriolo and “alongside” counter-information websites such as roundrobin.info and malacoda.noblogs. The main charge against the comrades is that of having formed and/or participated in a subversive association with purposes of terrorism (270bis), as according to the cops, through the publications mentioned above the comrades allegedly instigated to commit terrorist acts against the State.
Besides dozens of raids all over the peninsula, there were 6 custodial measures: the “arrest” of Alfredo, already imprisoned in the jail of Terni, a comrade subjected to house arrest with electronic tag and another 4 with compulsory residence and signing.

The democratic system is the best you can aspire to live in: in it all freedoms are guaranteed. Let’s take freedom of the press and freedom of expression as examples; under democracy it is possible to say and publish everything, provided it is what the democratic system allows one to say and publish.
One of the most important guarantors of these freedoms is to be found in public prosecutor Manuela Comodi of the Perugia prosecutor’s office, who in a brilliant police operation unleashed her watchdogs – the ROS carabinieri – to raid the homes of numerous anarchists in Italy, looking for anarchist publications no less! And think, she even managed to find them… To tell the truth it wasn’t that difficult; like looking for philosophy books in a philosopher’s home or paintbrushes in a decorator’s workshop…
