The hunger strike continues – and so does the breaking by Anarchists (Athens,Greece)

The hunger strike continues – and so does the breaking

A few hours before the appeal in Lamia court regarding the decision on whether or not to grant the request of Giannis Michailidis, we broke the windows of the ELTA [post offices] in Kaisariani on the road of Ethnikis Antistasis.

Of course the council is not interested in this, but Giannis will know that the breaking continues until his release. The answer to the state’s repression is given in the streets. If the forces of the state destroy our marches, the city will be filled at night with alarms interrupting the illusion of security with their sound.

Freedom to Giannis Michailidis until the destruction of every prison

Treviso, Italy: Juan sentenced to 28 years’ prison. With blood in our eyes

Juan sentenced to 28 years’ prison.

With blood in our eyes

Saturday July 9th, the court of Treviso sentenced our friend and comrade Juan to 28 years’ prison (plus three years’ probation, 30,000 euro in compensation to the League and 17,000 euro in court costs) because he was held responsible for the attack in Treviso of the Carroccio in August 2018. Following the recent configuration of the charge of ‘political massacre’ – which stipulates life imprisonment – for an explosive attack on the carabinieri barracks in Fossano attributed to the anarchists Anna and Alfredo, this is the highest penalty, in our memory, ever imposed in Italy for a direct action that resulted in no injuries.

Among the infinite possible examples, it can be observed that the charge of ‘political massacre’ was not even brought against the Capaci massacre, [1992, anti-mafia Judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife and three escort cops, are killed in an explosion on the motorway near Palermo, Sicily and seven other people injured] while the fascist Traini was sentenced to 12 years for shooting at immigrants, wounding six of them, (and against a PD [Democratic Party] premises…). The aggravating circumstances of ‘terrorism’ (and of ‘massacres’ with neither dead nor wounded) apply to revolutionaries in general and anarchists in particular. We could also remember what was said in so much of so-called civil society in 2018 about state racism, on immigrants segregated on ships in ports, on the declarations of Interior Minister Salvini.

Athens, Greece: Intervention on airbnb in Exarcheia area

Intervention on airbnb in Exarcheia area

The analyses of the gentrification of the Exarcheia neighbourhood are now well known and are part of the words and practice of the anti-authoritarian space. House evictions, cop culture, bawdy tourists frolicking undisturbed in their new playground. Squat evictions, mega real estate companies, and so much more that we see in our neighbourhood every day.

Gentrification is our forced replacement with first-class citizens and visitors. For what purpose? For political denaturalization, for counter-insurgency, for profit. But the actions of our diverse movements will sweep them away once again.

South London,UK : ‘Life means intervention, decision, struggle, not to be a battery for the machine to work.’

This morning 25.7.22,some anarchists interrupted a commuter train on the Docklands Light Railway, connecting the (rapidly transforming) ghettoised districts of Newham and Lewisham to London’s financial centre.

Words from the heart were sprayed on the exterior of the train, especially the name of Giannis Michailidis. A banner carrying a quotation from his public letter from 2013 (‘Tracking my journey in the world of insurrection resistance and solidarity’) was hung from the rail bridge over the central junction of Deptford.

The following text was distributed by throwing hundreds of flyers into the train carrige and off the railway bridge:

Freedom is not an array of consumer choices and ‘experiences’. It consists in the living choice to take your life into your own hands in the struggle.
We can see what happens when, for years, each project of power is left to expand its tentacles over us.
– Neighbourhoods are wrecked to construct vacuum-sealed palaces for the pleasure and profit of the beneficiaries.

Sweden: Attack against the Greek consulate in Malmö – solidarity with hunger striker Giannis Michailidis

Following the call to an international campaign for freedom of Giannis MichailidIs, we join the solidarity movement with our hunger striking comrade.

Michailidis is an anarchist, a bankrobber, a fugitive, a political prisoner, a hunger striker. A hunger striker whose life is in danger because the greek state decided to apply a state of exceptional imprisonment for him, that is, the practice of preventive custody. This is not a greek peculiarity. As the Berlin based Assembly in solidarity with Giannis MichailidIs notes “the last years Europe sees a practice of consolidating a classical police state, where people are getting judged on the base of their estimated potential to be dangerous to the state and its order”.

https://www.anarchistfederation.net/fight-class-justice-for-giannis-michailidis-and-all-prisoners-who-fulfill-the-conditions-of-release-berlin/

Michailidis remains in prison despite the fact that he has already been incarcerated for more than 8 years and has served 3/5 of his time, because “he is considered a “danger” and not because he is accused of a crime. He served his sentence but is kept as a hostage in preventive custody without accusation and without any hope to be released”.

Italy: Banner in Greek embassy in Rome on 22/7/2022 – 59th day of hunger strike of the political prisoner Giannis Michailidis.

“THE ONLY STRUGGLE THAT WAS LOST IS THE ONE THAT WAS NEVER GIVEN”

“The struggle for the freedom of one, the struggle for the freedom of all.”

To stand in solidarity and support to the fight for freedom that Giannis Michailidis has embraced against a putrid system is to support the yell of one for many, for all those who are subjected to state oppression and its vengeance, against preventive imprisonment.

Despite having served the necessary terms for his release, preventive imprisonment is still decreed for him, in a totally arbitrary way, because he is not ‘sufficiently correct’ since he has not surrendered, he is insubordinate to their mechanism of maintaining and reproducingpower, he has taken up arms and turned them against the banks and thebase of the capitalist system. His struggle is an active struggle within the conflict, using his life as a weapon against the vindictive attack of the state. They want to drive him to physical extermination, killing him slowly and torturing him.

Freedom for everyone

We are facing an attempt by the state to annihilate our comrade Alfredo Cospito, burying him in the infamous 41 bis prison regime to take revenge for his actions and prevent him from continuing to spread his ideas outside.
Therefore, we, anarchists, think it is imperative to launch, starting now, a widespread mobilisation to relocate him.

ATHENS, GREECE: KIPSELI, A NEIGHBORHOOD FULL OF GENTRIFICATION, SEXISM & SPECIESISM

KIPSELI, A NEIGHBORHOOD FULL OF
GENTRIFICATION, SEXISM &
SPECIESISM

The following text was written because we were informed
by a passerby about the verbal, physical assault
and videotaping of a queer femininity and her
non-human companion in Kipseli by a boss- shop
owner, for leaving the dog tied up for two minutes
in the flower bed next to his shop.

So, welcome to Kypseli! To one of the main spikes of
urban gentrification, in recent years, in the center of
Athens that has made us experience our presence in
the public space more and more enclosing. Speaking
from the position of people living on minimum
wage or are unemployed, we see increases in rents,
while Greek bosses and their shops are expanding.
Observing the simultaneous and increasingly frequent
displacement of migrants living and working
in the area, their impoverishment and the grabbing
of an ever larger piece of our living space, makes
us furious. Against the backdrop of the metro works
and the imminent further increase in rents, bosses
and posh artists rub their hands together and believe
that all public space belongs to them. Whether
that means they don’t want to see non-human animals
in the flowerbeds, or that they want to take the
public benches and turn them into tables, or setting
up their hipster alternative shops on streets, (like
Agia Zoni- that until recently were mainly inhabited
by immigrants).

SANTIAGO, CHILE: INCENDIARY OUTBURST AT THE APLICACIÓN HIGH SCHOOL.

INCENDIARY OUTBURST AT THE APLICACIÓN HIGH SCHOOL.

On the morning of June 15, in Santiago, a large group of masked people decided to act in the streets against the current order and to show solidarity with their comrade Kuyi, who is detained in the National Service for Minors (Sename).

Kuyi is a 16 year old student of the Aplicación High School. On May 23 he was arrested at Cumming con Alameda when he participated in a demonstration in memory of Punki Mauri. On May 24, the youth was placed under “detention control”, where the authorities decreed that he must remain in the National Service for Minors (Sename) for 90 days, or as long as the investigation lasts. Kuyi could be sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Complicity and solidarity with the prisoners of the social war!

Long live los overoles blancos and the new generation of encapuchados students!

Kuyi to the streets!

Madrid,Graffiti in Lavapiés in Solidarity with the Exarchia neighbourhood for the International Day of Action

JUNE 25 – INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SUPPORT FOR THE EXARCHIA AREA

The only thing that can guarantee the public character of our neighbourhoods will always be the radical movement.

The city councils and the political elite in general are responsible as the cities are transformed into tourist centres, value for business. Public spaces are occupied by businesses and companies, who at the same time expel all those who choose not to or do not have the opportunity to consume. Against gentrification and touristification, state repression and the destruction of spaces of struggle. We resist in every neighbourhood by means of social self-organization, class solidarity, insurrection.

Text – beginning of Anarchist prisoner V. Stathopoulos’ hunger strike for G. Michailidis

Text – beginning of V. Stathopoulos’ hunger strike for G. Michailidis

How sure are we that there is no death penalty in Greece?

Remaining imprisoned for three years in solidarity, I directly experience the vengeance of the prosecuting authorities in the cells of the alt-right government! What we are experiencing today as an Anarchist movement is clearly an open war on all fronts by the regime.

The current junta really shows who they are with their daily behaviour on the street, with repressive laws on marches and strikes, while authoritarianism has been imposed on the whole society, with a constant cruel police state. The vindictiveness against political opponents, those they consider dangerous to their plans, is aimed at their political extermination, going as far as the physical extermination of those who continue to resist.

Chile: Two years after our imprisonment. Words from Monica and Francisco from Prison

Two years after our imprisonment. Words from Monica and Francisco from Prison

We have always prioritized not having intermediaries when it comes to communicating, that no one speaks for us, and in these days that mark two years since those who sustain the hegemony of power and locked us in these cement pits called prisons, will be no exception.

This second year of imprisonment will bring with it the end of the investigative period of our legal process, that is to say that the period in which the prosecution and the ten plaintiffs were able to gather information against us will end. The closing of the investigation opens an intermediate process prior to the trial.

The judicial investigation against us has spared no resources; the police have made great efforts not to leave any loose ends. The aim is to give us an exemplary sentence that will frighten anyone who makes the practice of political violence their own, especially with regard to the placing and sending of explosive devices. Furthermore, we are not unknown to the powerful; on more than one occasion we have been seated in the dock, and in all of them we have made our anarchist position clear. Our current legal situation is closely linked to our previous judicial trials.

Santiago, Chile: Words of anarchist comrade Mónica Caballero Sepúlveda held hostage by the State in the San Miguel Prison

Words of anarchist comrade Mónica Caballero Sepúlveda held hostage by the State in the San Miguel Prison

The military dictatorship left large and deep scars on a part of the inhabitants of the territory denominated by the Chilean state, thanks to the state terrorism that spared nothing in crushing all those who could hinder the implementation of the new neoliberal model. This is how the harshest face of repression became known to the thousands who were imprisoned, tortured, murdered and disappeared.

The fear and wounds left by the agents of the state can paralyze anyone, I cannot and do not intend to judge or criticize those who have chosen to stay at home after having lived through torture and/or the loss and/or disappearance of a loved one. On the other hand, there are others who, full of scars, have shed their fear and stood up without victimhood against the system of terror and oblivion. Among these was Luisa.
