The State is the slaughterer!

December 12 marks the anniversary of what is known as the “mother of all massacres”, the one in Piazza Fontana, at the Banca dell’Agricoltura in Milan, in 1969. Planned and carried out by fascists in collusion with State apparatuses, many more followed and over the following decade much blood was shed. These were scientifically planned massacres that attempted to impart an even more authoritarian turn to the young Italian Republic.

On December 5 in Turin, the courts began deliberating the sentencing of two anarchist comrades – Alfredo and Anna – accused of “political massacre” for having placed two explosive devices outside the carabinieri school near Cuneo in 2006, without causing any fatalities or injuries. They both risk life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Alfredo is being held under the 41 bis regime since May.

It seems logically absurd to hold a trial for a massacre without a single death, but not when the defendants are anarchists. The State wants to imprison them for life, not for what they have allegedly committed, but for the ideas they carry in their hearts and the actions that are an expression of those ideas.

Greece: New agenda 2023 of Solidarity Fund (in greek)

The Solidarity Fund of Imprisoned and Persecuted Fighters continues this year the series of agendas who attempt to record some of the most important moments of the social and class war in Greece. The three previous agendas in this series (2020-2021-2022) covered the period 1974-2005, dividing it not into uniform parts, but in such a way that, in addition to taking into account the volume of available archival material, they serve a basic need periodization of historical time. What we found in view of last year’s agenda, namely that “on the one hand the concentration of political time (closer to us and in terms of cinematic events) and on the other hand the abundance of archival material, also due to the wide use of the internet , led us to choose to divide the period after 2000 into five years”, it is obvious that this year we should, to some extent, revise it. This year’s agenda will thus cover three years (2006-2008).

It is not only the rapid concentration of multiform kinematic events during this period and the abundant available material that led us to this choice. It is, above all, the fact that during the year that closes this three-year period, in 2008, things happened that defined in such a fundamental way the world around us, but also the world within the domestic radical movement, the anarchist-anti-authoritarian space, which created a historical section. At such intersections, we believe that any attempt at historical recording would be right to stand.

Vitry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne)France : Slashed tires for Spie and a security company in solidarity with the rioters of the Adolphe Chérioux high school

In mid-November, a car from Spie (a manufacturer of prisons) and a car from a security system installation company had their tires slashed.

An action in solidarity with the rioters of the Adolphe Chérioux high school in Vitry sur seine, some of whom ended up in prison and others have their trial in February. Last week, the students blocked their their high school, some of them clashed with the police and destroyed urban infrastructure (cameras etc.). This mobilization was in part against the Parcoursup post-high school selection system. What are the possible links between anarchists and youth in struggle?

Rome, Italy: Interruption of a performance at Teatro Argentina in solidarity with the imprisoned anarchists on hunger strike against 41bis (Rome 26th November 2022)

Interruption of a performance at Teatro Argentina in solidarity with the imprisoned anarchists on hunger strike against 41bis (Rome 26th November 2022)

Today, 26th November 2022, the play ‘Hamlet’ was interrupted at Teatro Argentina in Rome. In spite of the fact that the theatre workers turned into a real security line-up to protect the bosses’ interests, we determinedly managed to get on stage and unfurl a banner that read “Something is rotten in Italy: NO to 41 bis”, throw leaflets and read part of the communique which we are reproducing in full here below:

We are here because Alfredo Cospito is under 41 bis. 41 bis is a prison regime specifically designed to annihilate the individual. We are here because Alfredo has been on hunger strike for over a month. We are not here to cry over an injustice suffered by our anarchist comrade, because it is not such. Just as it is not a legal aberration. It is the logical reaction of the democratic State to the attacks launched by Alfredo. First physical, with the wounding of the bureaucrat Adinolfi, at the time CEO of Ansaldo Nucleare, for which he has finished serving the time he was sentenced to.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM THE PRISONERS IN THE SUSARON CASE (Chile) en/es

30/11/2022:

FIRST STATEMENT FROM THE PRISONERS IN THE SUSARON CASE.

On the side of kittens, jaguars, dogs, cows, horses, chinchillas, trees and blizzards. We write this message loaded with pride, with a great mocking grimace on our faces.

The punishment for breaking the fear and the monotony of sterile grandiloquent words, we have always known is death or prison. We have known it since we were little.

Munich (Germany): the cars of the military go up in smoke

On Saturday, November 19, 2022, at about 1:30 a.m., two cars burned in the parking lot of the Bundeswehr University in the Neubiberg district of Munich.

The two vehicles, an Audi and a BMW, were more than 50 meters apart, and “the fire could not have passed from one to the other,” according to a police spokesman. A manhunt was immediately launched, including the intervention of a helicopter, but no suspects were arrested. For the time being, the police are not linking the incident to other fires in Munich, although potential similarities are being investigated.

Update on the December 5 hearing on the recalculation of sentences against anarchists Alfredo Cospito and Anna Beniamino as part of the Scripta Manent trial (Turin, Italy, December 5, 2022)

On December 5, the second appeal hearing of the Scripta Manent trial against comrades Alfredo Cospito and Anna Beniamino was held. The general prosecutor asked for 27 years and one month for Anna and life imprisonment without parole with 12 months of daytime solitary confinement for Alfredo, going even further than prosecutor Sparagna’s previous requests, which were 30 years for Alfredo.

Responsibility claim for the explosive attack on the house of the First Counsellor of the Italian Embassy – “Carlo Giuliani” Vengeance Cell (Athens,Greece)

Since 20/10 Alfredo Cospito has been on hunger strike against the prison regime imposed on him by the Italian state, under the name 41 bis. Alfredo Cospito has been a prisoner since 2012, having taken responsibility for the shooting of Roberto Adinolfi, director of Ansaldo Nucleare, an action carried out by the Informal Anarchist Federation/International Revolutionary Front (FAI/IRF). Since then the comrade remains unrepentant and continues to be committed to the cause of social liberation. For this reason, the Italian state decided to impose the 41 bis regime on him from 5 May, a prison within a prison where he will be in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day, with one hour of pre-trial detention and meeting with other prisoners, who will be decided by the prison management, imposing full control over him, including which of his fellow prisoners he will associate with.

en/es/el: Declarations of Anna Beniamino and Alfredo Cospito read out during the appeal hearing for the recalculation of sentences in the Scripta Manent trial.(Italy)

We receive the declaration of Anna Beniamino read out during the appeal hearing for the recalculation of sentences as part of the Scripta Manent trial. (Turin, 5 December 2022).

This is a political trial, which has aimed from the outset at the administration of exemplary punishment, a trial of our anarchist identities rather than deeds, a trial of those who do not renounce their ideas.

A massacre without a massacre attributed without evidence is the culmination of a growing commitment of Antiterrorism and Prosecution to exorcise the spectre of anarchism of action.
The imposition of the 41 bis regime to Alfredo Cospito, guilty of engaging in relations with the anarchist movement from the prison, is in the same vein. The hunger strike to the end that the comrade has been conducting since October 20th is the last resort against isolation and sensory, physical, psychic deprivation, against a political gag. A gag that even prevented him from reading the reasons for the strike itself.

41 bis is the extreme degree of doggedness of differentiated regimes: prisons where continual solitary confinement and the overcrowding of the common sections are the two faces of a system aimed at annihilating the individual. Prisons where massacres, real ones, have occurred and continue to occur: in the suppression of the 2020 uprisings, in the incessant suicides, in the treatment of the poorest and most fragile of prisoners as ‘residual material’ of the dominant techno-capitalist society.

Greece: Scenes from the riot in Exarcheia after a 16-year-old boy was shot in the head by cops in Thessaloniki

It was during the early hours of Monday 5 December 2022, when a 16 year old boy was shot in the head by a Greek cop of the DIAS motorcycle unit during a car chase in Thessaloniki.

He was accused of filling up his pick-up truck with 20 euros worth of petrol and leaving the petrol station without paying. Following the news and his dire physical condition, riots erupted in the city of Thessaloniki, in the north of Greece, later the same day. At the same time, in Athens, several different protests were held in the evening of December the 5th. The protest in Exarcheia, held in front of the memorial of Alexis Grigoropoulos, (a 15 year old  anarchist who was shot dead by a cop on 6 December 2008, sparking the events that would lead to massive riots all over Greece, known as the December Revolt) soon turned into a march that led to a riot, as seen in the video.

It has to be noted, that today 6 December, protests have been planned in dozens of cities and towns all over Greece, in remembrance of the December Revolt and the murder of Alexandros Grigoropoulos by the police in Exarcheia 15 years ago to this day.

Berlin,Germany: In solidarity with the hunger strikers Alfredo, Juan, Ivan and Anna.

Concerning the Closure of APD’s Firing Range (Atlanta,USA)

On the evening of Saturday, November 19, chainsaw-wielding militants took action to close down the Atlanta Police Department’s shooting range inside the Weelaunee Forest, where APD trains weekly to kill and maim the people of Atlanta. A few small trees were selectively felled in order to block the access road to the shooting range. One of the felled trees hit a power line which provides electricity to the shooting range, leading to a power surge which blew a transformer and disabled the cameras, which were then destroyed with fire and hammers. The power line only services the shooting range. No residential areas were impacted by the outage.

In the middle of the range is a yellow school bus. The windows are shattered from bullet holes, and spent munitions –flash grenades and tear gas – lie under the seats. Its purpose on the range is clear: the only ‘protection’ police offer is violence and death.

The decision to cut a living tree should never be taken lightly. The ongoing presence of the shooting range was an affront to the forest and all who live in or near it; the gunfire and explosions at all hours of day and night, the toxic lead ammunition poisoning the soil and leaching into the water, the way Black and brown people living nearby were forced to listen daily to the police training to murder them.

Athens,Greece: About the repressive operation and the defense of Prosfygika, 22. November 2022

We are still here … The Community remains strong and united … Prosfygika will win!!!!

On 22/11/2022, at 5.45 am, all kinds of police forces, riot police MAT, state security, Delta, OPKE and EKAM, invaded the squated neighbourhood of Prosfygika on Alexandra Avenue and more specifically the 7th block, on Tikhonidos Street (behind the Elpis Hospital). They broke through the outer door of the building, breaking it. Then they went up to the second floor where two community companions, the arrested companion and another refugee from Iran live. They kidnapped both of them and proceeded to carry out a thorough search of the building. At the same time, the entire neighborhood was surrounded by the repression forces, not only at the site of the search but in total, attempting to occupy it.

The operation was spotted by the community’s daily morning patrol who began to inform the neighborhood. Comrades and compañeras took to the rooftops to wake up the rest of us. Not knowing exactly what was happening, we recognized that the operation was limited to a specific building, but we also realized the serious possibility of a general attack. In retrospect, we judge that the invasion that took place was premeditated from the morning. All the time that elapsed until the moment of the invasion was the result of preparation, judgment on costs and gains, as well as a measurement of our determination, by the officials of the GADA and the ministry.
