On October 29, 2018, we, two anarchists comrades from Madrid, were arrested, accused of the incendiary sabotage of a Bankia ATM, which had taken place on April 13 of the same year. The action was in solidarity with Lisa, who had been sentenced to 7 years for a bank robbery in Aachen (Germany) – at present she is on parole.

There was an agreement between the parties: 1 year suspended prison sentence for each comrade and 7000 euros civil liability, paid before the trial.

Justice for Anarchist Prisoner Toby Shone!

Anarchist prisoner Toby Shone is being held in the Category B facility HM Prison Parc, a privately run prison in South Wales, despite being in reality a Category C or D prisoner who was eligible for Release on Temporary License (ROTL) on 21 January 2022, according to paperwork he received on 26th March 2022. ROTL is home leave from prison in preparation for release. Category B prisoners are not eligible for home leave.

Despite being found Not Guilty of political offences in court and with no evidence linking him to the website and publication 325.nostate.net, Toby is being held without legal process and without possibility of
redress as a Category B, High Risk prisoner where he is not eligible for ROTL (home leave). A probation official told Toby previously that his categorisation is a consequence of his anarchist beliefs, and the fact that he is considered by the authorities to act on those beliefs. This decision has been taken at a level above the Offender Management Unit (OMU) which is the unit Toby personally deals with.

Q: Listeners have probably already had the opportunity to learn about the events that you have lived throughout your long imprisonment in Spanish jails from reading your biography. Let’s start now with the case that led to your current detention in France. What facts does this case refer to?

A: Yes, I have a 10-year sentence set by the Paris Criminal Court on November 8, 2019, for armed robbery and kidnapping. This sentence was recently reduced, a week ago, to five years. And my release date is scheduled for May 16, 2025, so three years from now. This is due to a calculation of the credits for sentence reduction made by the Mont-de-Marsan Prosecutor’s Office, starting from 30 years instead of 25 as the legal limit for the accumulation of sentences in the Spanish system. Libre Flot started his hunger strike on Sunday 27 February 2022, you can read his demands here.

Since then he has only been drinking water and tea, he has been eating broth and fruit juice from canteen to supplement his nutritional intake. He systematically refuses the meal trays that are brought to him every day. We were able to give him advice on how to cope.

He had a visit from the director of the prison on the first day, since then he has regular appointments with a doctor who takes his blood pressure, checks his weight etc… His heart rate has dropped by half, so he decided to stop doing sport (i.e. walking on a conveyor) since 9 March and to go out for a “walk” (a 20m2 cage on the roof of the prison) because of the cold.
