Claim of sabotage act against rail lines in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito on hunger strike (Rome, Italy, November 6, 2022)

NOVEMBER 6, ROME – SABOTAGE OF TRAIN LINES IN SOLIDARITY WITH ANARCHIST ALFREDO COSPITO

On the night of November 6, we sabotaged high-speed rail and other train lines in several places in the city. Writings against 41 bis were left at the site. The goal of this action was to give visibility to the struggle of Alfredo and the other prisoners on hunger strike. The action, despite being successful (we verified that there were heavy delays to circulation the following day) was silenced by the media.

We recognize the state and its institutions responsible for Alfredo’s condition and health, and these attempts to invisibilize his struggle will not stop us: we will continue to stand by Alfredo because his struggle is our struggle.

HelI was released from Draguignan prison on 31 August. We think there are a couple of things that should be known.

To quickly explain their judicial pastiche in October 2021 they condemn me to 6 months for violence that I did not commit, the trial is really bad because it is not me who decided on the defence and thus the attitude to be held in the court, well I am here condemned for having put une mite à un pointeur. I get out in February 2022. Once out I knew I had to move away from there but I couldn’t. In March 2022, they put me in police custody with crazy accusations of death threats. A detention that would last 6 months..

In police custody in March the cops mentioned the anarchist site Attaque to me.

An exchange with a cop that struck me:

– Can you explain to me why I’m the one in custody?
– We know that in this story you’re the victim but you’re not completely innocent (well on other occasions I would have answered that I’m neither victim nor innocent nor guilty and that I’m screwing him, but given the crazy stuff I found myself involved in, I nevertheless wanted to know)
– But you think I did what exactly?

We did this for all the meals of shit they have delivered.

It is for all the people who fall ill due to unhealthy alimentation in the structures supplied by this company.

Text of Solidarity for the comrade Alfredo Cospito by the members of Revolutionary Struggle Pola Roupa and Nikos Maziotis

The physical and moral extermination of revolutionary fighters and political prisoners, or the coercion of them into political renunciation and repentance, has been the goal of the State and capital throughout time. In order to achieve this aim, States have created special conditions of detention and isolation for those who took up arms against the regime, for those they call “terrorists”.
One example of special detention today is the Italian model under Article 41 bis. Under Italian law, the Minister of “Justice” is given the right to lift the rules of treatment of some prisoners and order their transfer to special conditions of detention. The special conditions based on Article 41 bis impose complete social and sensory isolation, limiting contacts with other prisoners, limiting visits to one (1) per month with relatives, not by physical contact but through a glass partition, limiting, prohibiting, correspondence and the possession of books, shrinking prisoners’ exercise period to one (1) hour per day and increasing the time of confinement inside the cell.
These conditions are a form of torture aimed at crushing militant prisoners and in general those under this regime.

Anarchist comrade Alfredo Cospito, who is convicted for actions of the Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI-Informale), has been under this regime since May 5, 2022 in Bancali prison (in Sassari) in Sardinia on orders of the former Minister of “Justice” Marta Cartabia. The comrade has been on hunger strike against the solitary confinement regime since 20th October.Three comrades have also been on hunger strike in solidarity with comrade Alfredo, Juan Sorroche since October 25th, Ivan Alocco imprisoned in France since October 27th and Anna Beniamino since November 7th.
This repressive policy of States using special conditions of detention is something that has been going on for decades and has developed and grown.

Secure encryption chat apps are essential infrastructure for anarchists, so they should be closely scrutinized. Signal is the dominant secure encryption tool used by anarchists today. Conspiracy theories notwithstanding, the fundamental architecture and development goals of Signal have potential security implications for anarchists. Signal is a centralized communication service, and centralization results in potential security implications, especially when contextualized within the current threat landscape. Alternative secure chat apps like Briar and Cwtch are Peer-to-peer communication tools that, in addition to being Encrypted like Signal, route all traffic through Tor (PET). This approach to secure communication offers great advantages for security, anonymity and privacy over more common services like Signal, but with caveats. However, anarchists should seriously consider trying and using Briar and/or Cwtch, in the interest of developing more resilient and more secure communication infrastructure.

Despite all that, the best way to communicate anything securely is still face-to-face.

This is a discussion about digital tools for communicating securely and privately. To begin, it must be stressed that a face-to-face meeting, out of sight of cameras and out of earshot from other people and devices, is the most secure way to communicate. Anarchists were going for walks to chat long before encrypted texting existed, and they should still do so now, whenever possible.

Presence in solidarity with Beppe, Natascia and Robert, still accused after the acquittal in first instance of having sent an explosive package to the ex-director of the DAP, Santi Consolo, and to two public prosecutors in Turin, Roberto Sparagna and Antonio Rinaudo, responsible for the conditions inside the prisons and the repression of many struggles.

In an increasingly hard moment for all prisoners; faced with the fact that prison sentences for revolutionaries are now around 30 years for actions that, incidentally, only resulted in damage to structures; that an anarchist comrade has been transferred to regime 41 bis (total isolation, the same as that previously imposed on communist revolutionaries) and that the only option for them is hunger strike, we express our closeness to the accused in this umpteenth trial.

On 7th of October, the 11 fighters from Turkey Ali Ercan Gökoğlu, Burak Agarmış, Hasan Kaya, Sinan Çam, Şadi Naci Özpolat, Halil Demir, Anıl Sayar, Harika Kızılkaya, Hazal Seçer, Sinan Oktay Özen and İsmail Zat started an indefinite hunger strike with the main demand of a fair trial.

From today, Saturday 12 November and for one week I am starting a hunger strike in support of their difficult struggle. Their trial starts this Wednesday 16 November in the courtroom of Korydallos prison.

I also want to send a signal of solidarity to the anarchist comrade Alfredo Cospito who has been on hunger strike since 20 October against the torture regime of article 41-bis, but also to the anarchist Anna Beniamino and the anarchists Juan Sorroche Fernandez and Ivan Alocco who are on hunger strike alongside him.

On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, October 26, around 4:30 am in Smithers (British Columbia), several vehicles parked on the outside parking lot of the Sunshine Inn went up in smoke. Four of the vehicles belonged to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and two belonged to BC Hydro, the energy company that operates British Columbia’s hydro and gas plants.

As anyone on the scene would point out, the small town of Smithers borders the construction area of the CoastalGasLink pipeline, a 670-kilometre-long pipeline through Wet’suwet’en territory, against which a struggle has been underway for several years to prevent environmental devastation and exploitation.

The English-speaking correspondent of the public channel Radio Canada (26/10) did not miss the link between this anonymous arson attack and the gas pipeline under construction, stating that “one of the police vehicles that burned bore the inscription C-IRG”, i.e. the Community-Industry Response Group, the special constable unit created in 2017 to conduct surveillance of opposition to industrial projects, before adding that “C-IRG officers conduct regular patrols on remote logging roads that lead to a Coastal GasLink pipeline construction camp about 100 kilometers from Smithers. ”

On the night of October 19, three years after the beginning of the revolt, we attacked the company SerCor located in the Las Condes district, specifically in building 150 of El Golf Avenue, with dynamite.

SerCor S.A. is a company of the corporate center of the Angelini Group that offers consulting and support to company boards for the administrative development of their capitalist businesses. SerCor is under the control of AntarChile, which is a major investment company, also belonging to the Angelini Group, and which manages assets of more than $20 billion.

AntarChile owns more than 70% of the shares of Forestal Arauco, a company with 1.6 million hectares of monoculture plantations responsible for the degradation and devastation of soils and which severely impacts the minimum conditions that a community needs to live, such as access to water and arable land. In addition, the MAPA project promoted by Arauco plans to modernize the pulp industry in southern Chile, reinforcing transnational extractivism in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, Canada, the United States, and Panama, among other countries.

At least seven vehicles belonging to TVA Quebec [a private Canadian television network owned by telecommunications giant Quebecor] were the target of vandalism on Monday night. Several windows and headlights were smashed by the perpetrators.

The police of Quebec City were called on the scene at around 5:30 a.m., Tuesday. They confirmed that a complaint was filed for vandalized vehicles, belonging to a company located on Wilfrid-Hamel Boulevard. On one of the vehicles, the vandal wrote the letters CAQ, in reference to the government [the Coalition avenir Québec is the party in power since 2018]. On the surveillance cameras of ExpoCité, we see a man in a balaclava approaching the vehicles, he then left on his bike.

It wouldn’t be the first time TVA employees returned to work with a nasty surprise. Their vehicles are often targeted by vandals on the road or during demonstrations, so all the news
