Responsibility for the incendiary arson attacks on the homes of
Panagiotis Tsanakas,a snitch dean of the ΕΜΠ and a riot police officer
National Metsovian Military Police
In the early hours of March 25, we carried out an arson attack on the
residence of the dean of the National Polytechnic University of
Athens, Panagiotis Tsanakas, as well as a riot police officer, in the
Zografou neighborhood. Our investigation into the chief of the
academic rabble at the Polytechnic led us to a coincidence that is both peculiar and poetically explainable. A snitch and a cop that work and live together, an image that is, at the very least, moving.
Tsanakas is not merely Hatzigeorgiou’s (director of the National
Technical University of Athens) lackey; rather, as the culmination of
his “academic” work, he has shamelessly turned in to the police a
student who was writing slogans in support of the Palestinian people on campus’ walls. However, he plays a deeper and more substantial role in Hatzigeorgiou’s police-controlled monstrosity, a rectorate that permits/enforces the daily presence and patrols of police on campus in full compliance and obedience to the dictates of the New Democracy doctrine for absolute control and, in essence, necrosis of student and subversive struggles within universities. An administration that we have lost count of how many times it has ordered the invasion of law enforcement forces onto the university grounds, with a particular “sensitivity” when it comes to those showing solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people.
Hatzigeorgiou, of course, has an additional reason for ardently desiring the presence of police on the ΕΜΠ campus beyond simply serving the government’s agenda. He uses them as doormen and thugs who guard the “little shop” he has built for future collaborations on NATO programs and Jewish arms industries. Just the day after the attack, we read that a way has been found, through opaque procedures and individual opinions from legal advisors, to declare Article 2 of the Funding and Management of the Special Research Funds Account (ELKE) un-constitutional, which concerns the ΕΜΠ and explicitly states: “…The history of the ΕΜΠ is
linked to struggles for freedom and peace. For this reason, at the ΕΜΠ it is not permitted to conduct or participate in research for military purposes of any kind, with the exception of research for the country’s defense needs, and no research is undertaken with funding from international military alliances.” Let us recall that the above represents an achievement of the anti-war movement during the era of the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999. Of course, as early as October 2023, amid the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli army, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the ΕΝΠ’s Hatzigeorgiou and Dean Panagiotis Tsanakas and Intracom Telecom. It is painstakingly obvious (unless you’re brain-dead) that the results of the research in this partnership are channeled to two subsidiaries of Intracom Telecom, Intracom Defense and Intracom Aviator, which actively collaborate with the Israeli military and its genocidal activities throughout the broader Middle East.
It is clear, then, that beyond being a despicable informant, Tsanakas
is, through actions such as the one described above, an active supporter of the genocide of the peoples of the Middle East, and as such must be confronted by radical forces. The arson attack on his home was merely a warning. We are well aware of his daily routine, and depending on his future actions, he will be targeted accordingly.
The other tenant of the building works as a riot cop. The descendant of Pantelis Petrou and Ioannis Georgakopoulos symbolizes for us the murderous attacks by law enforcement on the marches of the radical student movement, the serious injuries sustained by comrades during the memorial march for the armed revolutionary Kyriakos Xymitiris and that of December 6th, the long arm of the state that thinks it can crush us without retaliation. We want to salute every escalated action against every MAT (riot-cops) scumbag that has taken place recently. We’ll set aside the
long speeches and make room for action, and if this can clarify that
this “long arm” will literally start to crumble, then so be it. For now,
let him inform his fellow officers that the homes of some of them are in our hands, as well as those of other militant organizations, and that they will be targeted accordingly and in proportion to the intensity of the repressive assault we are facing.
We dedicate this action to our Italian anarchist comrades Alessandro Marcogliano and Sara Ardizzone, who lost their lives following the explosion of an improvised explosive device. To honor their memory, we named the cell that carried out the attack after them. Sara, Alessandro, Kyriakos, and hundreds more freedom fighters serve as a stark reminder to us all. To all those who speak of a dynamic struggle against the human-eating system that destroys our lives. A call for each and every one of us to take one small step further. To increase their risks and commitments. To steel their resolve and arm themselves. To honor the memory and the choices of our fallen comrades by multiplying the centers of dynamic resistance. In an era when it is necessary to fight with our
whole being, so that we may be there at the rendezvous for the showdown with history and with those who hold our lives in suffocating glass jars. Let us crush those who hold the whip, shatter the culture of fear among the willing slaves, and not become a museum exhibit or a fairy-tale story to put our lost revolutionary dreams to sleep. Disillusionment, grumbling, and the “politics” of bars and cafes must give way to the reborn propaganda of conspiratorial action.
