On Friday, April 24, the verdict in the Ampelopiki case was handed down in Athens. Our anarchist comrade Marianna was sentenced to 19 years in prison, and our anarchist comrade Dimitra was sentenced to 8 years. Dimitris P, Nikos Romanos, and A.K. were acquitted.
With our thoughts with the prisoners in Athens, their comrades, and their loved ones, and with Kyriakos Ximitiris in our hearts, we visited the prisoners at the Holstenglacis remand center in Hamburg on the evening of the verdict.
The prisoners cheered at the fireworks, a brief respite from their isolation and the dreary, regimented daily life behind the walls.
It is a modest gesture of solidarity — yet every revolutionary impulse, no matter how small, that strikes a chord creates further cracks in the walls of this world of states, wars, and prisons.
