Continued some of the updates from the 2nd trial of the ”Ampelokipi case [02/04]
Shortly after 08:00, the transfer of the comrades took place and the trial began at 09:00 in room D5.
Another prosecution witness was examined, the owner of an apartment on the same floor in the apartment building, but who did not live there. The questions from the court focused on 3 things:
1 The condition of the apartment building, and the extent of the damage
2 Whether TERNA’s work has progressed
3 Who covers the costs of hosting the residents of the apartment building in hotels?
The witness focused on the extent of the damage and the institutionalization (!) she is now experiencing in the hotel. The latter is a blatant lie, since she did not live in her apartment on Arcadia Street before the explosion! She does not know any of the accused persons, nor the owner, nor did she notice any strange movements the days previously.
In the last part of today’s trial, after the reading of the testimonies of the last two prosecution witnesses was completed, the lawyers and the comrade Marianna took their positions.
Marianna apologized once again to the residents of the apartment building. The comrade Kyriakos Xymitiris never wanted to die himself nor for anyone to suffer. He always fought for life. Then she highlighted the contradiction between the rejection of the plea for a political crime (1st trial) and the questions asked to the witnesses, which have a political background (especially questions asked by the prosecutor to the son of the owner of the apartment where the explosion occurred).
He claims that this is a political trial.
Among the “minor” points of today’s questions, we noted that the prosecutor asked the owner’s son if the application they were using for communication required a phone number. The president also stated that he “has memorised” Dimitra’s written communication with the owner’s son, while commenting that “young kids today don’t make phone calls, but talk via the internet.”
Finally, documents were submitted by the Comrade Dimitra’s lawyer proving her consistency in both her academic and political trajectory. And this does not contain any violent events that would incriminate her.
That is all for today.
Next hearing (3rd): Friday 03 April, at 09:00, in room D4
