The state’s war against immigrants is escalating in many countries. In USA, the state is not only kidnapping many immigrants but also arresting people who act in solidarity with immigrants. Those arrested are given terrorism charges, which (like Article 187A here) make the already harsh legal penalties in USA even more severe.
It has been 90 days since the first arrests of 17+ people related to a protest outside an immigration detention center in Prairieland, which is near Dallas, Texas. The charges against them range from attempted murder to obstruction of justice, all following a July 4 noise demonstration at which cops allege someone fired a gun, wounding a cop. This one (alleged) action has evolved into a claim that dozens of defendants were involved in a vast conspiracy.
Although those arrested have different ideologies and belong to very different groups, from anarchists to democratic socialists, the Trump regime tells the lie that they are all part of a “cult” together, and the regime is focusing on this case as part of its obsession with “antifa.”
All of them face decades of prison. The state used armored vehicles and great violence to raid the homes of many anarchists, leftists, and their families and friends throughout North Texas, arresting many who were not even present at the action itself. One comrade who was not present now faces deportation to Mexico for the “crime” of possessing anarchist zines.
Bail amounts are in the millions of dollars – in some cases $10,000,000 per person – to ensure that everyone remains in prison, where they suffer abuse and inhumane conditions. Ten are in solitary confinement.
One person who had a $150,000 bond, who was also not present at the action, was arrested and charged with a felony for the sole “crime” of removing users from Signal and Discord groups. He was able to post bail, but when he gave an interview to the media, the state arrested him again and immediately imprisoned him, this time on a $1,000,000 bond.
Another person who only set up a solidarity website and tried to raise money for those arrested was also arrested for aiding terrorism.
Right now, https://www.instagram.com/dfwsupportcommittee [2] is the best place to find updates on legal cases and solidarity actions.
On October 3rd, the “International Day of Action for Prairieland Defendants,” we put up a banner in Messologiou, as a small gesture of solidarity with these brave detainees.
We will not be intimidated! Nobody left alone in the hands of ANY state… solidarity across borders, to destroy borders!
