In the wake of the parliamentary elections [the early parliamentary elections of February 23], almost all parties vied with each other to increase military spending, to (re)create a Germany fit for war, to demand even more arms exports, to force young people into military service. Germany has long been involved in the arms race and general mobilization. But wars require not only weapons and infrastructure, but also soldiers, and above all a society ready to follow, ready to murder and commit all the horrors of the world, blindly and with glee.

We’re in the midst of a crisis in which the next world war doesn’t seem far off. If this escalation continues, war will devastate our planet. While the United States has just withdrawn from the war in Ukraine, “united Europe” is closing ranks and openly discussing a real nuclear deterrent against Russia. Every day, events unfold without us finding a response befitting what is happening in this world.
This is not our war – we want a future.
But what kind of war are we preparing for here? And who benefits from war?
A significant proportion of the world’s wars and conflicts revolve around struggles over the distribution of energy, access to resources, economic interests and, ultimately, Power. Contrary to the dominant narrative, these are not struggles for democracy, justice or values. Most people suffer from these wars, while the rich and powerful line their pockets. Western imperialism is trying to maintain its hegemonic position, while other imperialist forces such as Russia and China aspire to it. The capitalist system is reacting to the current crisis, as so often in history, with destruction and aggression. And the various warring parties never act in the interests of the people directly affected by these conflicts. War is always a war of capitalist powers, in which the populations of every country can only lose. Their suffering is presented as an inescapable fate, and hostility between them is fanned by nationalism.
We are defending our revolutionary position on the question of war, and fighting for friendship between beings and peoples!
What is happening in Germany is not a matter of preparing to defend against possible attacks or to create a so-called defense capability. Becoming fit for war means preparing to wage war. Boris Pistorius [current Minister of Defense, from the left-wing SPD party, which just lost the elections] and Friedrich Merz [leader of the right-wing CDU party, which won the elections] are preparing German society for wars of aggression in other countries with a strong German involvement, in particular with a view to a global shift of power and a further strengthening of wars to secure energy reserves, areas of power and market outlets. To this end, soldiers are to be sent to schools, the so-called “civilian clause” [limiting research for military purposes in civilian universities] is to be repealed, and infrastructures such as the healthcare system are to be brought into line with the war.
Here, rents are rising, the social system is being further weakened and, at the same time, hundreds of billions of euros are to be made available for armaments. And there’s no end in sight: to reach the 2% of GDP required by NATO, the special fund is just one step, and the debate on further increases has been going on for a long time.
What we have here is warmongering. Where is the cry of alarm?
A new escalation of a global war is brewing here in Germany, which is why we must sabotage the centers of the war-mongers.
On the night of March 6-7, seven German army vehicles were set on fire in the parking lot of a MAN workshop, because war machines only please us when they’re on fire.
No to rearmament! No to arms exports! No to compulsory military service!
