It is with great pleasure that we announce that an anarchist book fair will take place from 5 September to 8 September 2024 at NewYorck in Bethanien, Mariannenplatz 2 A, 10997 Berlin-Kreuzberg.
The book fair should not only serve to give anarchist books, ergo anarchist ideas, more space. Above all, we want to intensify debates that must lead to practical action. Books and all written products are important vehicles that can connect us all – yet books themselves are nothing, it is the content they carry that is useful – it is the practice that forms a real movement.
This is why the book fair will be focussing on content:
The stance on war (in Ukraine and elsewhere)
The discussion of the issues of nationalism-nation-people-state, which cannot be separated from each other.
The dissemination of anarchist and revolutionary ideas via books, propaganda, practice, etc.
The focus of the book fair will be questions about war in general and specific wars, both current and historical, and why this is inherent in the capitalist state-nation – and why our relationship to it can only be one of irreconcilable enmity. What does it mean for the anarchist movement when people who call themselves anarchists take part in intra-bourgeois wars? What options do we have for taking revolutionary action in wars? And there are certainly a thousand other questions that have played and continue to play a role in this context.
The character of the book fair should be international and internationalist, because the relationship between anarchists and all revolutionaries must be strengthened.
