The Greek state has completely systematized racism. The institutional form of racism dominates the public sphere in ways and practices fed by a particular audience. Thus racism is adopted by states and unfolds through their institutions. Even fascist practices that have always run parallel with the state are being so faithfully implemented by the latter in many cases that even fascist groups are taking on new forms.

Institutionalized violence against migrants includes concentration camps, border killings, pushbacks, asymmetric border “wars” (such as the Evros border). Racism and xenophobia are not just current phenomena, but have existed in the Greek state for many decades. Nevertheless, as we see globally, the intensity of the war against immigrants has intensified and deepened. On the one hand, labour needs are changing compared to other decades, but on the other, having broken whatever social contract that may have existed in the past, states are present to provide repression, policing and national ideology.

Thus, the state “legalizes” immigrants on the one hand or tries to find ways to bring in cheap labour, while at the same time extending the Evros wall even more. All of the above could not be done without the complicity or support of large conservative sections of society who have been led to see the weakest as their enemy.

For the implementation of the above, hands, money, resources, systems and equipment are needed. The state has hired thousands of border guards, all kinds of cops, military, etc. to protect its national interests. If we take into account the European schemes (like Frontex) that are active in Greece with the aim of the notorious “guarding” of the borders, we are talking about innumerable resources. Thus, these thousands of uniformed garbage must be equipped with the latest technology to deal with the “invisibles”. Boats, helicopters, weapons, cameras (smart, thermal), smart borders/fences, algorithms, radars and so many other “achievements” are entering the area to ensure the interests of state and bosses.
Thus, the SPACE company undertakes and carries out programs to “guard” the borders with the cops, the coast guard and the army as bosses.
