In the night of Sunday to Monday 15th January, in the Frank Craeybeckxlaan, at Deurne (Anvers), persons unknown set fire to a cash point of the BNP Paribas Fortis bank. A pot containing an inflammable liquid, probably petrol, was set on fire near the screen and the keyboard.
Some people who noticed the fire tried to put it out with a small powder extinguisher and called the fire brigade. “The damage was limited to an automatic cashpoint which was completely destroyed. The police suspect arson and investigatons were opened. The forensics laboratory visited the site” , declared Wouter Bruyns, spokesman for the police of Anvers.
Last year at the beginning of September a similar incident occurred at Borgerhout, another district of Anvers, with limited damage.
