Athens, Solidarity with G. Michailidis – Taking responsibility for the burning of vehicles of confinement and surveillance of the speculators, by Anarchists
Comrade Giannis Michailidis is again putting his body as a barrage against the State revenge that he has been experiencing for almost a decade, choosing to fight for his freedom once again. Despite the fact that he has served the necessary conditions for his release and almost a year ago he spent 66? days on hunger strike without having his request met practically, the comrade is still declared a preventive detainee. On the legal-judicial pretext that he is not “sufficiently corrected”. With the main demand being for his immediate release, the comrade started a new hunger strike on 12/5 in the midst of a rather difficult situation.
As an anarchist solidarity movement outside and against the prisons of democracy, we have a responsibility and duty through militant and practical solidarity to fight back against the regime of exception and stand in solidarity with the prisoners’ struggles. We are part of this militant effort and the ongoing struggle against prisons. We support the comrade’s hunger strike attempting to break the total isolation and silencing of the struggles of all prisoners. We believe that the hunger strike of the anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis, as well as many of the prisoners’ hunger strikes, can trigger militant campaigns of a multifaceted movement against prisons and imprisonment, which promotes and disseminates the revolutionary perspective of total liberation.
The speculators of incarceration, the arms companies, their vehicles with their glass windows and the entire body responsible for civil justice must pay the price for their actions. For this reason we set fire to a KONE vehicle in the area of Kaisariani at dawn on 3/6 and a vehicle of ESA security solutions in Kypseli at dawn on 6/6. Not just to cause a little damage to these two companies but to try to return a bit of antiviolence to some of our oppressors and some of those responsible for profiting on our bodies and our lives. KONE is a company that manufactures elevators, escalators and door security systems, with construction and maintenance contracts with prisons and military bases worldwide, including prisons in France and the US and the NATO air base in Aviano, northern Italy. ESA is a security company based in Athens and Thessaloniki, with a number of contracts with public bodies and private individuals, indeed an intrinsic part of the control and surveillance society.
Once again, the establishment has drawn a veil of silence over the action, part of an overall strategy of silencing our comrade’s struggle. Obviously we are not surprised by the specific political choice of the regime to silence the struggle against the State and capital yet again. All the more so during an election period, when the political agenda of the rulers is being imposed and dominates, targeting as many people as are attached to their screens. So once again it becomes clear on which side of this perpetual social war the mass (mis)information media stand, structured to serve the cold logic of profit and exploitation.
We believe that circumstances such as this one must find us with prepared fighting reflexes and plans so that we can manage to return a piece of antiviolence to all the responsible mechanisms and persons responsible immediately. To highlight our struggles through militant and practical solidarity and turn the metropolises into battlefields against the oppression of the State and capital.
