Santiago: On the Demonstration for Comrade Mauricio Morales and the 81 Prisoners Assassinated in the Fire at San Miguel Prison

Received 09/05/2023

The evening of May 8, 2023, Memoria Anticarcelaria held a demonstration for anarchist comrade Mauricio Morales and the 81 prisoners assassinated in the fire at San Miguel Prison.

The activity passed in front of the prison, in the street, without permission, this being a small space of memory won thanks to the courage of family members who lived through the greatest prison tragedy that ever occurred in this ill-fated territory.

Remembering Mauri there, his anti-prison essence, becomes vital to continue expanding his memory, ideas and actions. His decision to strike the school of jailers on May 22, 2009 is not fortuitous; the principle of authority walks through those corridors where the future custodians of freedom are prepared. The comrade put the magnifying glass on that place, in the same way that throughout history others have set their sites on the prison and its lairs. As anarchists, we cannot be indifferent to all of the intricacies of prison society, nor can we forget those who gave everything in the attack against them.

The activity included live music, words, letters from fellow prisoners, posters and ample black propaganda spread through the streets.

In memory of anarchist comrade Mauricio Morales…
In memory of the 81 prisoners murdered in the San Miguel prison fire…

THE YEARS GO BY, BUT NOTHING IS OVER, EVERYTHING CONTINUES.
PUNKI MAURI PRESENT.
