Porto Alegre, Brazil: Protest at the Italian Consulate in Solidarity with Alfredo Cospito

Porto Alegre: Protest at the Italian Consulate in Solidarity with Alfredo Cospito

Actions in solidarity with comrade Alfredo Cospito have not been absent in the territory in conflict with the brazilian state.

The consulates of Belo Horizonte and São Paulo were visited (1). Posters were pasted up in the cities of Porto Alegre and São Paulo, the consulate in Porto Alegre was attacked with burning oil this past December (2).

March 1, 2023, at 11am, in response to the call for agitation for Alfredo, we went to the Italian consulate in Porto Alegre in a fleeting and surprising protest with pamphlets, incendiary devices and banners. We didn’t go to ask for anything, but to demonstrate our hatred of states, prisons and the societies that support them, as well as expressing our deep and complicit solidarity with comrade Alfredo Cospito. His hunger strike of more than 130 days is a fight to the death against isolation in italian prison (41bis), a struggle that is more than dignified (3).

Any gesture will seem small in contrast… but apathy will never be our comrade!

With these words we respond to the calls of the anarchist comrades to join in solidarity faced with the vengeance of the italian state against Alfredo. In societies where the State and capitalism are increasingly solidified, our anarchist connections, bonds, and communications that don’t respect imposed borders are more than urgent.

Anarchist solidarity with Alfredo Cospito!
We echo the call to continue attacking all italian representations.

Text written in the pamphlet thrown at the military guards at the consulate and in the streets where the protest took place.

Comrade Alfredo Cospito
Until the last breath!

History will remember February 24 as the day they sentenced anarchist Alfredo Cospito to death, on hunger strike stince October 22, 2022 against the 41bis isolation regime.

A struggle that is not only for him, but against all forms of torture such as hard prison in extreme isolation, which affects many more prisoners. 41Bis is the perversity of keeping a person breathing while isolated from all social contact.

Alfredo, in a gesture of deep clarity, knows that this is not living and continues to struggle against this regime, with more than 130 days without food.

Far from any legalist discourses of guilt or innocence, we don’t come to ask for anything!

We are at the consulate to demonstrate our deep rejection of these forms of torture that the democratic states call justice.

We are here to demonstrate our active solidarity with Alfredo Cospito.

Until the last breath comrade!

Long Live Anarchy!
