Five years after the evacuation of Bois Lejuc: ANDRA’s Flux branch burnt down in Osne le Val near Bure.
It took two decades of struggle to create a situation allowing an open balance of power against the CIGEO project with the occupation of Bois Lejuc, which was defended for nearly two years under pressure and attacks from ANDRA mercenaries* .
It has now been five years since this front line broke following the violent and brutal eviction of the occupiers by 500 gendarmes on February 22, 2018 and, with it, a central place of resistance disappeared.
What followed was an unprecedented wave of repression in the region; Surveillance, raids, arrests, trials, prison sentences and other repressive instruments implemented have prevented and made difficult an offensive reorganization of the struggle.
The psychological wounds left by this difficult and traumatic time are slowly healing and there will forever be a scar in our hearts. Despite the evacuation of the forest, the resistance continues today on many levels.
We have taken the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the evacuation of the forest to show that we have neither forgotten nor forgiven what they did. And that they are mistaken if they think they have hunted us and defeated us forever.
With our modest means, we continued the series of attacks against the CIGEO project infrastructure on 14.02.2023 by setting an ANDRA transmission pylon on fire in Osne le Val near Bure.
We support any act of sabotage against CIGEO and these Monsters. However, we deliberately place our action in the context of a series of attacks carried out last year against measuring stations intended to collect geological, hydrological and meteorological data, and we wholeheartedly welcome the action groups which led them! Together and informally we are stronger!
Finally, we believe that these structures are of paramount strategic importance in the current development phase of the project given that the data collected, for example for environmental impact studies, alone constitute a necessary basis in the creation authorization procedures. Thus, destroying them, putting them out of service, are and will inevitably be a thorn in the side of the “smooth running of the CIGEO project”.
Rage in our hearts, tools in our hands.
Autonomous Tortuguita Revenge Committee*
*We dedicate this action to Manuel “Tortuguita” Paez Terán, murdered by the cops on January 18, 2023 during the attack of the occupation of the forest, against the construction of the “Cop-City” in the forest of Weelaunee, 1312 Atlanta/USA.
