Text – beginning of V. Stathopoulos’ hunger strike for G. Michailidis

How sure are we that there is no death penalty in Greece?

Remaining imprisoned for three years in solidarity, I directly experience the vengeance of the prosecuting authorities in the cells of the alt-right government! What we are experiencing today as an Anarchist movement is clearly an open war on all fronts by the regime.

The current junta really shows who they are with their daily behaviour on the street, with repressive laws on marches and strikes, while authoritarianism has been imposed on the whole society, with a constant cruel police state. The vindictiveness against political opponents, those they consider dangerous to their plans, is aimed at their political extermination, going as far as the physical extermination of those who continue to resist.

The sympathies of domination are not hidden. They release their friendly subjects, such as the rapist of underage children Lignadis, Filippidis who repeatedly raped women, Korkoneas who executed the 15-year-old student Alexandros Grigoropoulos, Hortarias one of the murderers of Zackie Oh and of course the fascists of the XA, several of whom are already out of prison, with suspended sentence. These are just a few shining examples from a never-ending list. While blatantly keeping our comrade Giannis Michailidis captive in prison, having already served 3/5 of his sentence and entitled to the suspended sentence under their own laws. Leading him to his physical extermination, killing him slowly and torturously with the hunger strike that they blatantly deny him his fair release.

As a political prisoner I am starting a hunger strike from the 20th of July 2022 until Monday 25th of July 2022 when his conditional release is being considered. Against the exemption status of political prisoners.
