As of 27th February 2021 four comrades have been held in the prison of BRIANS 1 in Martorell (BC). Initially the arrests were 8. They are accused of attempted murder and of forming a criminal group following their participation in a demonstration in Barcelona where the side of a municipal police van burned for 30 seconds. There was a guard inside who got out calmly.
Clearly a frame-up. Plotted by the State in order to break off the demonstrations that in full COVID confinement agitated the main Spanish cities. In solidarity with rapper Pablo Hasél, still also a prisoner, for crimes of opinion.
Iron fist and frame-up, this is the response of the State. A frame-up that reminds us of others. From Sacco and Vanzetti to Sole, Silvano and Baleno passing through Pinelli and Valpreda. In fact the accused are foreigners (Italians) so much for united Europe, they are anarchists and also squatters, without permanent jobs or families in Spain, obviously.
The investigating judge in the case (Maria Eugenia Canal Bedia) – infamously a friend of the police – has done her best to delay the trial which could reveal the inconsistency of the frame-up. Always prolonging the waiting time for each single court document to the limit, going so far as to conceal for 45 days a fire brigade report exonerating the comrades. They are also accused of sharing the battle cry “Chihuahua” and of distinguishing themselves for an “ochre-coloured lighter” and other such amenities… 14 months of preventive detention, awaiting trial. This is Spanish democracy, evidently still afflicted by totalitarian syndromes.
Particularly active 27F solidarity committees have developed in both Italy and Barcelona. On the occasion of 12-months’ preventive imprisonment solidarity demonstrations took place in Barcelona and Turin. The committees are also supported by the Pablo Hasél liberation committee in Milan, which they collaborate with.
A disproportionate bail (245,000 euros) was demanded for the comrades’ release, which has been lowered slightly but remains unattainable all the same. We are waiting for a new pronouncement from the provincial Tribunal, which is being delayed in turn. Also because there has been a new 27F arrest recently, while he was entering Spain from France.
We call for the solidarity of all anarchists so that the Spanish State cannot cover up its infamies and to raise funds to pay their bail and get them out of this incredible situation.
