An investigation for “destruction by dangerous means” has been opened by the Bourgoin-Jallieu public prosecutor’s office after the burning of a relay antenna in the hills above Flachères.

The fire was observed on Wednesday 26 January in the early afternoon by technicians who had come to carry out work. When alerted, the gendarmes of the Grand-Lemps/Virieu brigade community came to observe the evidence. As there was little doubt of criminal intent, the La Tour-du-Pin search brigade and the Grenoble search section were jointly responsible.

On the spot, montée du Château-d’Eau, the investigators carried out the first investigations with the help of the Grenoble criminal identification technicians. According to the initial findings, the perpetrator(s) acted on the evening of Tuesday 25 January, setting fire to the cabinet housing the connection and power supply for this antenna shared by the operators Free and SFR. To gain access to the interior of the site, the perpetrators cut a chain with a padlock. The mobile phone networks in the area will remain out of service until the necessary repairs are made. The total damage could exceed 100,000 euros.
