Arson, outage… Internet and telephone are missing
The gazette of Val d’Oise, January 17, 2022
In Meriel, telecommunication rhymes with curse. First episode of this sad law: the outage occurred at the beginning of January on a Sfr cell phone antenna, rue de l’Abbaye-du-Val, and which is still depriving Mériellois of calls.
A new misfortune has befallen, Wednesday, January 12, 2022, this time on the Internet users of the town subscribed to the fiber optic. During the night, two connection cabinets located near the town hall were destroyed by a fire, probably of criminal origin.

A second thing that despairs the Mériellois in telecommuting and annoys Jérôme François, the mayor (Se) of Mériel quite a bit:
“Those who are connected to the fiber and have a mobile subscription with Sfr are really in trouble. For me, this is criminal. Several households (nearly 450 Ndlr) in Mériel are affected. Tdf (a subsidiary of Val-d’Oise fibre) has been reactive and have restored the town hall network, but for individuals it will take two weeks for everything to return to normal.
A complaint has been filed and the investigation entrusted to the gendarmerie. An additional problem for the investigators is that there are no video surveillance cameras near the burned cabinets.
As for the Sfr cell phone antenna, despite several reminders from the municipality the operator remains silent for the moment. They have no explanation,” sighs Jérôme François. We contacted them this week, but haven’t heard back yet.”
