Yvelines: cars of police burned at the police station of Fontenay
Le Parisien, October 9, 2021
The hatred of the police is tenacious and is expressed by fire. Two personal cars belonging to night duty officers were set on fire during the night of Friday to Saturday in the courtyard of the Fontenay-le-Fleury police station (Yvelines).
Around 11:30 pm, the criminals threw molotov cocktails on the vehicles of the policemen who park their cars on this parking lot when they work, but also during their vacations, assuming that they will be safer. “The two victims are a captain and a brigadier,” said a source close to the case.
The firefighters intervened and quickly came to end the fire. One of the vehicles was completely destroyed. The second was damaged. “When this happened, the police officers who were on the scene moved their car to limit the damage,” adds the same source.
The investigators of the departmental security (SD) are responsible for conducting the investigations. According to the first findings, the arsonists took a small path along the wall of the police station. Perched on a mound overlooking the building, they threw incendiary devices on to this parking lot where personal and administrative cars were parked.
There are always conflicts with young people in the area and this is always how they proceed when they launch mortar fireworks against this building,” said a source close to the case. But for the moment, we have no leads that would allow us to identify one or more suspects.
The delegate of Unité SGP, François Bersani, deplores this new incident that occurred within the police premises. He recalls that earlier this week, a 16-year-old teenager was arrested in front of the SD in Viroflay while filming the police and their licence plates.
