Claim of responsibility for sabotage of the chemical plant in Balan, Ain (France)

On the night of October 5, 2025we resorted to sabotage in an attempt to shut down toxic production at the chemical plant in Balan, Ain, by striking its upstream power supply.
Drawing inspiration from actions aimed at cutting off energy to industries throughout France and elsewhere, we set fire to the high-voltage cables that run from the La Boisse substation to the platform. Inside the electrical substation, the cables emerge from the ground (insulated in sheaths) and climb up the pylons. This is where it is possible to set them on fire without major risk, causing a short circuit and cutting off the power.
This year marks the 60th anniversary (1965-2025) of the Balan chemical platform, which produces plastic powders and granules for industrial use. However, there is nothing to celebrate.
For 60 years, this Seveso-classified industrial time bomb has loomed as a threat over the region.
For 60 years, pellets have been spilling into nearby waterways, fields, and forests.
For 60 years, fumes, microplastics, and PFAS have been making local residents, animals, trees, and plants sick (causing cancer).
For 60 years, the chemical industry has made workers complicit in the destruction of the earth and the deterioration of their own health.
For 60 years, major chemical corporations like Arkema, Solvay, and BASF have waged their chemical war against the earth, the oceans, and the air
For 60 years, the lights of this factory have been hiding the stars.
The industrial model continues its race toward collapse. Genocide, ecocide, and the destruction of freedom accompany industrial progress everywhere.
Our struggles may seem hopeless, our attempts to throw a spanner in the works futile, our resistance pointless. And yet… when we take to the streets to block yet another project, our hearts warm as we imagine the smiles behind the hoods when we sneak through the night, approaching the target of our next act of sabotage, the stars encourage us to persevere when we learn that others are venturing down the path of sabotage, we feel hope coursing through our veins.
We are part of a diffuse and multifaceted resistance strategy
1. aimed at preventing new industrial developments (highways, high-speed rail lines, nuclear power plants, reservoirs, mines, etc.).
2. targeting existing industrial production by any means necessary
3. sabotaging the energy and logistics infrastructure on which the system depends.
Such a movement is only possible by weaving networks of solidarity, sharing our knowledge and our failures, critically analyzing the way we struggle, protecting each other from repression, and learning from experiences from elsewhere.
Let’s not wait any longer.
Let’s join the fight.
Let’s join the resistance to defend the land.
Let’s dare to dream of a world free of states, factories, and power lines.

“The Balan chemical platform, covering an area of 40 hectares, is home to two operators, Kem One and SK Functional Polymer (both formerly Arkema). The factories, which produce industrial plastic granules and powders, employ several hundred workers and operate day and night. Kem One produces PVC in powder form. It spews out 275,000 tons of toxic powder annually for industrial use. SK Functional Polymer manufactures 60,000 tons of plastic granules for industrial use each year.”

Berlin (Germany): The Volcan group disconnects the capital’s gas power plant

[Note of Sans Nom: On Saturday, January 3, at around 6:30 a.m. in Berlin, the “Volcan group: Cutting off the power to those in power” set fire to several cables at the fossil fuel power plant in Lichterfelde. This resulted in the interruption of electricity supply to 2,200 businesses and 45,000 households (i.e., 100,000 people) in various upscale neighborhoods in the southwest of the German capital (Lichterfelde, Zehlendorf, Nikolassee, Wannsee). Specifically, five 110,000-volt (high-voltage) cables and ten 10,000-volt (medium-voltage) cables were destroyed by this arson attack, at the point where they crossed the Teltow Canal on a dedicated footbridge, disconnecting the “electricity” part of the gas power plant from the Berlin grid, while its “district heating” section remained intact. The municipal operator Stromnetz Berlin immediately resorted to workarounds to restore power to 7,000 homes and 150 priority businesses, while announcing that the complete (and temporary) restoration of the network would not be effective until next Thursday, January 8. On Tuesday evening, nearly 25,500 homes and 1,220 businesses were still without power in what was described as “the worst terrorist attack ever perpetrated against critical infrastructure in the capital” by one of Berlin’s leading newspapers (Berliner Zeitung, January 6).

It should also be noted that, taking advantage of the blackout among the wealthy, several expropriations took place: between Saturday and Monday evening, the authorities recorded seven successful burglaries/robberies and 13 attempted burglaries/robberies, targeting villas, supermarkets, and ATMs, prompting them to deploy 450 additional police officers and a helicopter equipped with thermal cameras and searchlights in these neighborhoods every night. On Sunday, the regional interior minister (SPD) declared a state of emergency, facilitating the intervention of the army and federal police. In terms of cell phone towers being knocked out, Vodafone announced that 27 sites (out of 39) were down, Telekom reported 17 sites (out of 29) affected, and O2 counted 18. Two days later, cell phone coverage returned to southwestern Berlin, but remains in degraded mode. The same was true for the S-Bahn lines (S1 and S7) and the regional express train (RE7), all of which were interrupted because their signal boxes were also without power. And to top it all off, around 20 schools will also remain closed until Wednesday.Recall that in March 2024, a group called “Volcan: EteindreTesla!” claimed responsibility for setting fire to a high-voltage pylon in Berlin supplying the company’s Gigafactory, while in September 2025 “a few anarchists” had already caused a partial blackout in the German capital during the anti-militarist sabotage of a pylon supplying Europe’s largest technology park. This is a global call to action against the copper-mine currently under construction in Riehpovuotna (called “Repparfjord” by the colonizers), in Norwegian-occupied Sápmi.

1. WHAT IS THIS?

This is a global call to action against the copper-mine currently under construction in Riehpovuotna (called “Repparfjord” by the colonizers), in Norwegian-occupied Sápmi.The Canadian company Blue Moon Metals (BMM) – full owner of the mine’s operator Nussir ASA – is actively involved in the colonization of Sámi ancestral lands through the construction of two copper and precious metals mines in the region. This is part of a rapid expansion of corporate extractivism stemming from the EU’s Critical Minerals Act, as the “Nussir mine” has been named a “Strategic Project,” allowing for large land grabs and cutting through any environmental or Indigenous land protection under the banner of a so-called “Green Transition”. More information on the history of the land and the numerous Sámi-led struggles, can be found in the later sections.

2. WHAT CAN BE DONE?

Besides the Nussir copper-gold-silver project, BMM is currently advancing two other brownfield polymetallic projects, Nye Sulitjelma Gruver (NSG) copper-zinc-gold-silver project in Norway and the BMM zinc-gold-silver-copper project in California. All 3 projects are located within existing local infrastructure including roads, power grids, railways, and/or previous extractivist projects. Calvados: Sabotage of the Paris-Caen line during the National AI Conference

During the night of October 8-9, 2025, we set fire to the electrical cabinet of a railway signaling system between the Mézidon-Canon and Caen stations, in the Paris-Caen direction.
The aim of our action was to disrupt rail traffic between Paris and Caen in order to prevent the smooth running of the National Conference on Artificial Intelligence, which took place at the University of Caen on Thursday, October 9. We wanted to cause train delays and cancellations to disrupt the arrival of speakers at this day of pro-technology propaganda and upset the daily routine of the established order.

The sabotage worked well, as the media reported delays on the Paris-Caen-Paris line throughout Thursday, in both directions, due to a fire that “put the signaling system out of service.”
