Greece: SOLIDARITY DAY on February 9, 2024, FOR THE FINAL RELEASE OF COMRADE POLA ROUPA & THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF COMRADE NIKOS MAZIOTIS EN/ FR / GR / DE / IT / ES
We call comrades in Greece and around the world to be vigilant and act in solidarity:
9/2| SOLIDARITY DAY FOR THE FINAL RELEASE OF
COMRADE POLA ROUPA & THE
IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF COMRADE NIKOS MAZIOTIS
Comrade Pola Roupa and Comrade Nikos Maziotis were sentenced to several years in prison for their participation and action in the guerilla organization Revolutionary Struggle.
They were imprisoned and served the combined 20-year prison sentence to which they were finally sentenced (after the “breaking” of their life sentence for the bombing attack on the Bank of Greece-branch of the European Central Bank-office of the International Monetary Fund in Greece, by Revolutionary Struggle Commando Lambros Fountas).
Comrade Pola Roupa served 8.5 years of real prison (13.5 years mixed), while her partner Nikos Maziotis has already served 11 years of “closed” prison and a total of 14 years mixed. That is, 3/5 of their sentence as state laws dictate.
Comrade Pola Roupa was released from prison with restrictive conditions on November 17, 2023, and a few days later, on November 28, 2023, the deputy prosecutor of Evia filed an appeal against her release, requesting that she be taken back to prison. This unprecedented event led comrade Pola Roupa before a new judicial council at the court of Chalkida on January 10, 2024, in order to judge from scratch whether she will remain free or continue to be a prisoner in the cells of the republic.

Nancy,France: Anarchist comrade Boris convicted on appeal for the fire of two relay antennas
Nancy,Boris convicted on appeal for the fire of two relay antennas

translated by others a little later
On September 25, 2023, the Nancy Court of Appeal tried again the anarchist comrade Boris (transl. as is customary the word companion is used in the French, which highlights more the sense that everyone is fighting their own struggle), for having burned the relay antenna of the four telecoms operators, as well as that of the cops and gendarmes, in April 2020 on the Mont Poupet (Jura).
Following this attack which had mobilized in full capacity technicians of the Ministry of the Interior until the bottom of the Jura valley to try to restore their communications as soon as possible, the DNA of the comrade had been found on the spot. After months of eavesdropping and surveillance conducted by the Anti-Terrorist Group (GAT) of Dijon and members of the GIGN specially come from Versailles (transl. equiv. to SAS or Special Ops), and as part of an investigation entrusted to the Specialized Inter-regional Jurisdiction (JIRS) of Nancy, Boris had been arrested in Besançon on September 22, 2020.

Most of us will remember when cell towers first started popping up and tech companies tried to make them look like trees. Only ten or so years later, they’ve abandoned even this pathetic effort to mask the expansion of the techno-world, as society has become accustomed to accepting and even welcoming each new technological innovation that is handed to us. Even when one gadget fails to capture consumers (remember Google Glass?) the technologies behind the product (augmented reality, AI, etc.) find use in the military and industry, allowing techies to advance their product while simultaneously molding social acceptance through a combination of propaganda and coercion (hello Apple Vision).
In anarchist circles in the US, critiques of the role that technology
plays in our relationships and struggles have fallen out of style; the
presence of phones and use of social media in spaces of struggle is
largely taken for granted. The immense violence, death, and devastation to the earth that is required to bring phones and computers into our hands has become grotesquely normalized as our ability to interrogate our own dependency on and attachment to these technologies has eroded.
This presentation will look at the process of technological advancement and how it functions on the individual, relational, and societal levels, and the impact this has on struggles against domination. In particular, we will focus on the technologies used to construct borders and surveil non-citizens, tying this to the ways that these technologies occupy our own lives and struggles as well as the dangers it poses to our networks in terms of security. After, we’ll have a group discussion in which we will attempt to break out of the artificial constraints that prevent us from putting this world into question.
Greece: Response from the Judicial Council of Chalkida against the release of comrade P. Roupa – and some solidarity interventions
Response from the Judicial Council of Chalkida against the release of comrade P. Roupa – and some solidarity interventions
On Wednesday, January 10, at the court of the city of Chalkida, deputy prosecutor of appeals of Evia’ appeal against the release of comrade Pola Roupa was examined by a three-member judicial council in a long trial.
Initially, the judicial council refused the appearance of the comrade’s three witnesses (one of whom even came from abroad), while their written testimony was requested in a memorandum to be filed as soon as possible (by Monday at the latest). It is noteworthy that the deputy prosecutor of Evia who appealed the decision of conditional discharge, in which they request that the comrade be re-arrested and sent back to prison, was absent.

“If the Cops Kill Me I Want You to Riot” (Atlanta, USA)
“If the cops kill me I want you to riot
Burn down their stations and set their cars alight
Know that I went out fighting and wish we all
Could just have peace and be free
…
We cannot have peace until this empire falls. Even then, peace takes work and freedom is a constant struggle. If the cops kill me I want you to riot, to kill as many of them as you can.” – Tort’s diary p. 121
Tortuguita lived and died fighting for the dispossessed, the wild, and the feral; against the world of empire, prisons, and police. It was a true warrior who made the forest its home, devoted their life to the struggle, and was willing to die a revolutionary death rather than be captured. We invite all those who knew Tort, and all who were impacted by its life from afar, to take the anniversary of their death as an opportunity to reflect on our own commitments and deepen our resolve, so that we might invigorate and intensify our conflictuality.

Greece: For the revolutionary anarchist Alfredo Bonanno by Class Counterattack – Group of Anarchists and Communists, December 2023
For the revolutionary anarchist Alfredo Bonanno
On 6 dicembre the anarchist comrade Alfredo Bonanno died at the age of 86 years. Alfredo was an emblematic figure of the insurrectional tendency of the anarchist movement. His political activity extended to the whole range of militant practices of the movement and his writings have addressed a multitude of theoretical, historical and ideological issues, such as the question of insurrection and political organisation, revolutionary and armed struggle, the contemporary tendencies of capitalism, the relationship between nation and class, themes that he addressed with originality and acumen, which places him among the most important contemporary anarchist thinkers.
His revolutionary activities often caused him to be targeted by the repressive forces both in Italy and in Greece, where he has had close political contacts since the early 1990s participating in political events, international initiatives, solidarity movements and editorial projects. It would not be exaggerated to say that some of his works, such as Theory and Practice of insurrection left a strong mark on the formation of the Greek anarchist movement of the nineties and two thousand.
