Fire at the Roubaix police station : 17 police vehicles affected

27th June 2024

During the night, at around 2.20am, there was a fire in the parking area of the central police station of Roubaix. It was police officers returning from an intervention to have noticed significant smoke at the garage. The firefighters quickly intervened on site to prevent the fire from spreading to the police station building. A dozen police vehicles were completely burnt out in the fire, seven others also caught fire. The flames, intense, even reached some of the staff’s personal cars parked above in the outdoor carpark.

According to Benoit Aristidou, departmental secretary of Adjoint Unité SGP Police for the north, the fire could have been accidental according to the first elements: « According to the fire department, the fire started at the back of the garage, at the level of the room where all the confiscations are stored. In this room, there are in particular electric scooters seized, the fire could possibly have come from a scooter’s electric battery. »

Grenoble metropolitan area: transformers set on fire, homes without electricity

France Bleu, June 13, 2024

Firefighters responded to several fires on the night of Wednesday June 12 to Thursday June 13 in the Grenoble metropolitan area. In La Tronche, but also near the Grand’Place shopping center in Grenoble, where several stores were without power. An investigation has been opened by the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office, and entrusted to the criminal investigation department, as the destruction of these two electrical substations is reminiscent of the wave of fires in Grenoble in recent years.

In fact, according to Grenoble public prosecutor Eric Vaillant, “the near-simultaneity of the fires at the two transformers, located some ten kilometers apart, suggests sabotage by the libertarian ultra-left. No claims have yet been made, but they aren’t always claimed.

A first fire on an electrical transformer broke out on avenue du Grand Sablon in La Tronche at 1.20 a.m., leaving 80 households without power. Enedis set up temporary generators at 8 a.m. to supply power to the nearby funeral home. These generators will provide power to the affected households until the work is completed. The work could last several days and cost several tens of thousands of euros.

Munich (Germany): ghosts continue to haunt the night

Munich, ghosts continue to haunt the night

Around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday night, April 4, Munich firefighters were alerted to a major blaze in the Meillerweg district, just a few hundred meters from the Maximilianeum, the historic seat of the Bavarian State Parliament. On the scene, they discovered four pieces of construction equipment being consumed by flames: a backhoe, two wheel loaders and a Unimog (a small Mercedes all-terrain utility truck).

Except that this is not just any old place, because in addition to being a stone’s throw from the Palace of the Rulers of the Kingdom of Bavaria, it’s also the construction site for the second main line of the capital’s S-Bahn subway system. To be more precise, it involved relocating a district heating pipe to build a relief shaft from the railway tunnel. The four machines, located far apart, were completely destroyed, with damage running into six figures. The Bavarian Central Office for Combating Extremism and Terrorism (ZET) and the “Raute” investigation group were on the scene with sniffer dogs and forensic police.

Fortunately for them, the minions of law and order have a serious lead, as revealed by a major regional newspaper a few weeks later (Süddeutsche Zeitung, May 10): it’s probably ghosts, perhaps escaped from Ludwig II’s famous castle at Neuschwanstein (but on this last point, the cops are less formal).Let’s be the judge, since with this latest sabotage against the subway construction site, investigators are now attributing some 30 destructive attacks to Munich’s ghosts, causing at least 20 million euros worth of damage: “They set fire to power lines and construction equipment, telecoms antennas and electric vehicles; railroads are also the target of their attacks, as are geothermal pipelines. The identity of the perpetrators and their origins remain a mystery. Like ghosts, they leave no exploitable trace and no statement claiming the action. Who has an interest in attacking the critical infrastructure of Greater Munich? This is the question security services have been asking themselves since the series of attacks began at least three years ago.The damage caused so far is approaching the €20 million mark.”

Extremely expensive Tesla completely burnt out (Amsterdam, the Netherlands)

Happened in the night between 10 and 11 June in Amsterdam.

Just after 3:30 a.m., a parked Tesla burned out completely on the Heemstedestraat in Nieuw-West. This type of car cost about 108,000 euros new. The fire brigade had arrived shortly after the report, but by then it was already clear that there was little left to save. The flames were already shooting out of the electric car meters high.

There was also a lot of smoke released. The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. Given the time of day, arson is not ruled out, but a short circuit could also be a cause. That will be looked into.

Castanet-Tolosan (Haute-Garonne), France : Oops we did it again !

Indymedia Lille / Sunday 9th June, 2024

In the night of 7 to 8th June, we burned two trucks inside the company premises of Jean Lefebvre, subsidiary of Vinci, at Castanet-tolosan.

The world military market, Eurosatory, is opening in ten days’ time in Paris while the massacres in Palestine continue and Macron drowns again and again in his speeches of total rearmament. The present war economy is condemning us to ever more violent austerity. In France, the interior and exterior war is based on territorial conquest whose infrastructures, military or civilian, of control and circulation, are destroying our living spaces.

BTP/TP and Vinci as one of the largest French companies, are profiting greatly from this permanent war, both in the grid of the cities, motorways, bitumining the countryside, as in future reconstruction projects, eyeing international markets where colonial devastation is taking place.

When the world of concrete catches fire again and again

IAATA / Saturday May 25, 2024

On the night of May 23 to 24, a new bonfire sparkled on this grey horizon
The IPCC aims to show its presence with the destruction of construction equipment at the French national level in order to counter the lack of ecological justice.

The concessionaires and project managers feel their project threatened, whether legally, from public opinion or from citizen opposition. They are trying to impose it by force so as not to lose a crumb of the juicy profits that land-grabbing promises them.

A69 freeway: several worksite machines set on fire last night in Saïx
La Dépêche, April 17, 2024 (excerpt)

via: sansnom

A new incident occurred last night on the A69 construction site at the Dicosa in Saïx. Around midnight, half a dozen hooded individuals surrounded the security guard on site, “to prevent him from raising the alarm”, according to Atosca. “The agent was intimidated and insulted. He is very shocked”, explains the company.

He then saw around thirty hooded people appear and hide. The individuals then set fire to several NGE construction machines. A few minutes later, another security guard making his rounds sounded the alarm. As a result, 4 pieces of equipment were set on fire and taken out of service, and Atosca lodged a complaint. Incendiary devices had already been discovered on the site over the past three weeks, and security guards had been instructed not to provoke a confrontation in the event of such an intrusion.

Newfoundland (Canada): sledgehammering the weather station for the future wind farm

World Energy GH2 equipment vandalized in Mainland

Radio Canada, March 14, 2024 (excerpt)

Someone recently damaged World Energy GH2 facilities in southwestern Newfoundland. The damage amounts to more than $5,000, and took place on February 21 or 22 in Mainland, at a location where World Energy GH2 collects weather data, says the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), which is investigating the incident. The vandals targeted solar panels, the windows of a small building and equipment.

In a similar incident in January 2023, someone had already damaged the company’s heavy equipment. World Energy GH2 intends to build around 150 200-metre-high wind turbines on the Port-au-Port peninsula, west of Stephenville. The consortium is also studying the possibility of building a wind farm of roughly the same size in the Codroy Valley to the south.
