In a country where days of national mourning are like weekends, every national tear for the dead of the social and class war is also a sob of hypocrisy. At the same time as the local alignment with the international anti-immigration policy of terror and death drowns more than 300 people on the Greek sea border, the Greek national team holds a minute’s silence and the political staff conducts memorials for the wronged. What hypocrisy! That the nation should mourn those it murders in order to keep the Greek ideal untainted and ironclad.

Over 300 more names on the long list of those put to death, whose crime was to seek a safer life. 300 more names of those killed by ‘drownings’ at sea borders, vehicle diversions from highway chases and cold-blooded murders at borders and metropolises by the official para-state and its fascist groups. And for all these deaths, the political staff has more militarisation to promise: extension of the Evros fence, reinforcement of the border guard, new cooperation agreements with Frontex, NATO contributions and camps. Because states respond to death with death. Because the murders of migrants are not the problem but the numerical result of the acts themselves.

Athens, Greece: Commando attack in Koukaki area in Athens by Anarchists

On Thursday 8 June, 23  in solidarity with the anarchist militant Giannis Michailidis, we carried out a raid on Veikou Street in Koukaki, destroying the facades of an elta, a realestate office, a vodafone shop, an s/m bazaar and 2 ATMs.

The above attack on capitalist objectives is aimed at putting pressure on the state mechanisms and those of the justice system that judges, sentences and releases according to political and class criteria, but also at highlighting the hunger strike as a political issue. Giannis’s health condition, already aggravated by last year’s long hunger strike, is in a bad state after more than 30 days of hunger strike. Our comrade’s justice is a fact, he is not alone, he will be supported to the end.

We take responsibility for the burning of a vehicle of AB Vassilopoulos, (supermarket chain) a gesture of solidarity with the anarchist comrade G. Michailidis, who has been on hunger strike since 12/5/23 and thirst since 9/6/23 demanding his release from prison, once again putting his body as a barrier to State revenge.
We attacked AB Vassilopoulos, a company-pillar of capital’s attack resulting in poverty, low quality and the plundering of our lives becoming more and more unbearable every day.

Because freedom will blossom on the wreckage of the last prison that will come with the elimination of exploitation, State/capitalist barbarism, the destruction of the natural world, with the building of a world of freedom, equality, solidarity.

Comrade Giannis, after a hard struggle where he put his body through a 33-day hunger strike and a 4-day thirst strike, managed to win what he was entitled to and had been demanding since last year: his temporary release on parole. Something he had been forced to demand before with a 67-day hunger strike last year, which he suspended after verbal promises from officials that his request would be granted, which never happened.

So today, 14/6/23 the Amfissa Judicial Council decided to release Giannis with restrictive conditions.
