”Operation Bialystok”

On 29th September the first grade sentence concerning the trial following the so-called Operation Bialystok which saw 6 anarchists charged with different types of offences, from association with terrorist aims (art. 270bis cp) to terroristic attack, (art. 280 cp), from damage to arson, from incitement to commit a crime to more minor offences such as unauthorised gatherings and defacements, all aggravated with aims of terrorism.
After almost nine hours’ deliberation in the council chamber, the verdict was delivered shortly after 7 p.m.
All the accused were acquitted of the charge of conspiracy to commit terrorism, purpose of terrorism with regard to specific offences, as well as incitement offences (Art. 302 and 414 of the criminal code).
The accused who was charged with burning some car-sharing Enjoy cars property of the Eni multinational was sentenced to one year’s prison. The charge of arson was downgraded to damage followed by fire, and aims of terrorism was also excluded for this action. His sentence is suspended but he has been ordered to pay compensation to civil parties (Eni Fuel Spa and Eni Spa).
