We are publishing a text by Anna Beniamino from the women’s prison of Rebibbia:
AN IMMORAL FAIRYTALE
Anarchists read a lot and write even more, perhaps this is because of some excess of book culture which shouts at the top of its voice about ethics, while they find it difficult to understand it and forget to apply it in the reality of everyday life. And… as soon as they realize the mistake has been made they write more pages and pages (it is not clear whether for private use or for a selected audience) redundant with rectifications which sound even more shaky and hypocritical than declarations during trials, when not amusing in their anxious contradictions.
I don’t enjoy acting the moralist locked up between four walls, but as I recognize that certain silences risk being filled with others’ chatter, I think it is the case to dwell upon a curious phenomenon of inversion of sense and references in speech, a phenomenon which is two years old and not yet clarified.

This short essay seeks to highlight the deep social, ontological and anthropological transformations which will derive from the G5 network and from the society that is structuring itself thanks to it. The 5G network is not the simple development of the previous 2G, 3G, 4G and is something more than greater speed in transmission of data: besides being faster, it will allow more connections at the same time and the simultaneous passage of data with practically zero delay. These are essential characteristics for the development and voracity of artificial intelligence, which will progress thanks to data extrapolated from the digital world. Data which, before being grabbed and captured by algorithms, were our lives, our feelings, our body in the flesh, now product and producer of its own surveillance on a large scale. Our comrade Boris, in prison in Nancy-Maxéville since september 2020 for the arson of two relay antennas in the Jura during the lockdown, is currently in artificial coma at the burns unit of the hospital of Metz. The fire would have started around 6:30 am in the cell [where he was placed alone in detention ] saturday 7th of august.
The only certainty is that prison is an institutionalized torture system, and that the State -from police to justice to prison -, is directly responsible of this situation.
May sadness turns into rage against all authority …

La sola cosa certa è che la prigione è un sistema di tortura istituzionalizzato e che lo Stato – dalla polizia alla giustizia fino alla prigione – è direttamente responsabile di questa situazione.

Unser Gefährte Boris, der seit September 2020 im Gefängnis von Nancy-Maxéville inhaftiert ist, weil er zwei Funkmasten im Jura angezündet hat, liegt derzeit in der Verbrennungsstation des Krankenhauses von Metz im künstlichen Koma. Das Feuer soll am Samstag, den 7. August, gegen 6.30 Uhr in der Zelle [in der er allein inhaftiert war] ausgebrochen sein.

Sicher ist nur, dass das Gefängnis ein System der institutionalisierten Folter ist und dass der Staat – von der Polizei über die Justiz bis hin zum Gefängnis – für diese Situation direkt verantwortlich ist.
Lass Traurigkeit in Wut gegen jede Autorität umschlagen…

Ο σύντροφός μας, Boris, ο οποίος κρατείται στη φυλακή της Nancy-Maxéville από τον Σεπτέμβρη του 2020 για τον εμπρησμό δύο κεραιών στη Jura κατά τη διάρκεια του lockdown, βρίσκεται αυτή τη στιγμή σε τεχνητό κώμα στη μονάδα εγκαυμάτων του νοσοκομείου του Metz. Gap [Hautes Alpes], France: About an attack on a vaccination centre

Gap. City centre. Night of the 1st to the 2nd of June 2021. Individuals break down a door at the back of a theatre converted into a vaccination centre. The door is easily broken open and they find themselves in a long corridor, which leads from the left to other rooms. A door on the right is not locked, it opens on a large room, where presumably vaccinations take place. Hastily, piles are made with the furniture that is present. Bottles of alcoholic gel are added to the petrol. A flick of the lighter, the whole thing catches fire, and the silhouettes disappear into the night. The whole thing lasted only a few minutes, enough to destroy a good part of the building.
It was a rather symbolic act, since another centre opened the same day, and according to what we know from the press, the attack of the same kind in Nyons [Haut de France] a few weeks earlier only caused a slight delay in the opening, which was quickly resolved. This shows the need to look for the heart of the monster rather than attacking all its tentacles, but let’s move on.

Grande-Synthe (Nord), France: Goodbye to the municipal workshops

There is nothing left of the municipal workshops of the town of Grande-Synthe after the fire that broke out on Wednesday night. All of the municipality’s maintenance equipment and around thirty vehicles went up in smoke. A criminal investigation is being considered.
The fire broke out between midnight and 1am on Tuesday night. Two intruder alarms were triggered successively. The fire then started at the back of the 2,700 m2 building. It spread at breakneck speed. When the fire brigade arrived (about fifty fire fighters were mobilised), the Grande-Synthe municipal workshops on avenue de Suwalki were completely engulfed in flames.

It is difficult to start writing when my heart and mind are still in turmoil. The only thing I long for is a fraternal embrace, the sunlight and its warmth on my skin, and the only thing I have here is cement, cold, humidity and stench.
Perhaps it will be easier for me to leave by thanking: First of all my blood family who, far from all essentialism, have made me and my brother feel loved. Thank you for your sincere support. In 2nd place, to all the comrades and related who are “moving” outside, in some gesture of solidarity. In these moments everything helps and, as well as my family, thank you for your honest support.
Now, for those who wonder about it, I say: YES. Our prison is political. As political as any prisoners’ prison in this system. I would delve into more “theoretical” issues, but this is not the time. These days we have received a torrent of statements generated in the mass disinformation media about the recent protests in Cuba. On the one hand, there are those formulated by the Cuban officialdom and the leftists of the world in the name of anti-imperialism and in defense of what they still call the «Cuban revolution», on the other hand, there are the traditional right-wing media that accuse the «communist dictatorship» of the lack of freedoms and rights.
The Cuban Communist Party and its international acolytes call for solidarity with the regime, arguing that they are facing a new intervention of «Yankee imperialism» which is taking advantage of the disastrous economic conditions caused by more than sixty years of blockade and the greatest health crisis in its history. While the supporters of the free market and the right-wing forces claim that what is happening in the country is the result of its citizens’ oppression due to the lack of opportunities in the socialist regimes.
In these times of post-truth we are suspicious of all these positions, but also, as anarchists, we are not only suspicious of these channels of manipulation but we identify positions that are contrary to our praxis and enemies of our desire for total liberation.

UK – The struggle against the existent continues
Thursday, August 4, 2011 Mark Duggan, a ‘real straight up and down respected man’ (words of London rapper, Chipmunk) from Tottenham in London, was blasted to death while on his way home in a cab by a mob of cops wielding Heckler & Koch MP5 carbines. 29 year old Mark, father of four young children, lived on the housing estate known as Broadwater Farm, a depressed predominantly Afro-Caribbean area. The area is infamous since the riot of 1985 after 49 year old Cynthia Jarrett collapsed and died of a heart attack as police raided her home. (During the riot a policeman, PC Blakelock, was hacked to death with a machete.) Today, in the words of a resident, ‘if you’re from Broadwater Farm, police are on you every day, you’re not allowed to come off the estate. If you come off the estate they follow you.’ They followed Mark Duggan and he ended up dead.
August 6 – The arrogance of the killers in uniform in the face of the protest by the victim’s family and supporters, plus the brutal attack on a 16 year old girl by police during the vigil was the last straw.
That night in Tottenham the police station was attacked, police cars set on fire, a double-decker bus ends up a twisted wreck after being engulfed in flames, press photographers are beaten and relieved of their equipment for the decades of lies they have propagated. Bank windows smashed. Countless shops looted, stuff thrown all over the streets. Young guys storm McDonald’s and start frying up burgers and chips. Indignant anger clears the brain, flushes out the cops in the head. Collective fury at this latest police murder combines with the daily bullying and humiliation of being stopped and searched, the moralising, the false promises, useless lives, no future, desire for status-affirming ‘needs’ unattainable due to increased taxes, unemployment and cutting of benefits, 4 million cameras, glaring security cops at the entrance to every store, the colonization of all remaining urban space by trendy bars filled with the noisy chatter of the carefree… that and much more that we don’t know and will never experience welled up and fueled the will to smash through the invisible and plate glass barriers that hold everything in place. Our era is based on the myth of progress, a myth that imposes the attainment of every possibility offered by technological development, without considering the consequences that might result from it. Industrial society, in order to solve the current catastrophe and the irreparable consequences of technological development, is giving us digitisation, automation, artificial intelligence, smart cities and objects as the only solutions. Further irreversible damage can only come from technological society, so the starting point must be to radically question it.

Solidarity Means Attack

Chile: attacks in Mapuche areas continue to grow   

On Friday 9 July in Carahue, a 29-year-old former anthropology student who had joined the Mapuche struggle through CAM (Coordinadora Arauco Malleco), Pablo Marchant, was murdered by a carabiniere with a bullet to the head during an attack on vehicles belonging to the Forestal Mininco forestry company. Far from seeking justice from the murderous state, various radical Mapuche groups from different regions (Biobío, La Araucanía and Los Ríos) immediately set out to keep the ideas of ‘Toño’ alive by attacking companies that exploit water or the forest. In less than a week, the authorities had already counted 44 road blockades, 22 gun attacks on carabinieri patrols or security guards, and 11 arson attacks that had destroyed 39 vehicles (trucks and forestry construction equipment).
Today, 1 August, a little less than a month later, all those who had hoped to reduce these vengeful attacks to an inevitable temporary flare-up of rage and anger for a few days were given a cold shower by the traditional official assessment of the Ministry of the Interior. Not only did the Ministry of the Interior report a 94% increase in “violent acts” in the Mapuche zone (Macrozona Sur) in the first half of 2021, but it also counted more than 150 “attacks” following the murder of Pablo Marchant.
