Trial against Anarchist comrade in Leipzig in 12.05
On May 12th and 2nd of June another „Tag X“ demonstration- trial against an anarchist comrade will take place at Amtsgericht Leipzig. The state attorney is accusing him of serious breach of peace, physical and aggravated assault of police officers in 18 cases and destruction of work equipment. This is not an isolated case, the upcoming trial is part of a collective accusation against several people. with a total of 1500 opened investigations on the whole weekend, 100 people having charges and another 100 still having open investigation.
In this specific case the accusation is based on photos published online taken by a photo journalist. The police believes that they can identify our comrade based on these photos with the help of a so called „super-recognizer“, a figure of dubious credibility. In the investigation „Tag X” the Leipzig police worked several times with these self-proclaimed „super recognizers“. These are police officers who present themselves as having superior recognition abilities to others, but who in reality are as subjective as anyone else. There is no scientific evidence of the existence of this „super-power“.
We see this trial as a part of the escalating repression against revolutionary and anti-fascist movements.
The second round of the Antifa-Ost trial is currently ongoing. Seven anti-fascists are accused of alleged participation in militant actions against Nazis; at the same time in Düsseldorf, other six anti-fascists are on trial because of the so called „Budapest-Komplex“. The same actions Maja was sentenced in Hungary to eight years of prison under heavy prison conditions.
Our answer to these trials is: solidarity and complicity with those fighting for a world free of fascism. That was the reason why we decided to take the streets of Leipzig on 3rd of June 2023 to express our outrage against the sentences handed down to the anti-fascists. It´s more than clear: the sentences – years in prison – have a price and we sent our utmost solidarity to the comrades who were sentenced, so that they would feel they were not alone. A trial against one of us, is a trial against all of us.
Three years after „Tag-X“ we see how fascism and totalitarianism continue to grow all over the world; the reactionary wave is winning governments and gaining popularity in society through anti-immigration and anti-feminist rhetoric, captivates millions of people by pushing their deepest fear of losing the welfare that capitalism promises them.
European countries are preparing for war by investing billions of Euro in military equipment; compulsory military service is once again becoming reality, calling on young people to defend Germany from external threats, and anti-immigration policies becoming increasingly harsh.
The repression of those demonstrating against the genocide in Palestine, with thousands of court cases between Berlin and Leipzig, highlights the German state’s authoritarism towards anyone who speaks out against colonialism, wars and borders.
For all these reasons, we remain convinced that we must continue to take the streets, fight against all authority and to show solidarity to those who refuse to remain silent against injustices and the attacks of the ones in power. We belive in an anti-patriarchal anti-fascism, where care and other ways of relating to one another are at the center, where we challenge one another so that we can make our communities healthier places.
For all these reasons, we invite you on 12th of May and 2nd of June to come to the court in Leipzig
