The sun is shining again and the anarchist book fair is back! The 21st edition already.
We still want to celebrate the paper in our hands, far away from
the digital nightmare that creeps into our most intimate circles. At
the book fair, you will find plenty of other publications besides books, brochures, pamphlets, posters and stickers. From old novels and revolutionary classics, across philosophy and poetry to
contemporary social criticism or the latest calls to struggle: they
start from the will to radically change the world. They share ideas and try to deepen them. Ideas: not marketable, like-able, goody-goody opinions without commitment.
But the book fair is much more!
The anarchist book fair is also an international gathering of
anarchists and anti-authoritarians, with formal and informal
discussions. We want the book fair to contribute to strengthening the anarchist movement here. We see it as a tool to deepen ideas, an opportunity to launch proposals and to forge links
between individuals and groups. We want to share our passions with
each other and create a context where words and deeds dance together and reinforce each other.
Our anarchy carries an offensive position against power and a will to
subversion.
War and militarisation are all around us. The government is forging
plans to build war factories, reintroduce military service and wants to make the country the logistical hub of war preparation. Savings on all fronts go straight to the war chest. War rhetoric becomes the new normal.To shape the military-industrial complex, states and capitalism not only need cannon fodder and workers, but they must also plunder the earth ever deeper. All over the world mines are being expanded or reopened in search of resources to feed their economies.
These are bleak times, where fear and despair are never far away. All
over the world, people are fighting these mechanisms of power and money.
For us, the book fair is a place to share, deepen,
strengthen these struggles.
