Athens, Greece: Taking responsibility for attacks against fascists by Anarchists

Athens: Taking responsibility for attacks against fascists.

In a prolonged period of ongoing crises, impoverishment and general class devaluation, the re-emergence of fascists in the public sphere is a reality that we have to face once again. After a brief ‘withdrawal’ from the public sphere as a result of hard-fought battles by the multiform anti-fascist movement and the subsequent State rollback (see the trial of golden down neo-nazis), various far-right and fascist groups are attempting to regroup, to declare their presence on city walls and in the neighbourhoods and take to the streets. A movement that is culminating as we approach the elections. In fact, the recent event of the stabbing of an antifascist comrade after an anti-fascist march in Kallithea, shows an upsurge in their activity that must be relentlessly crushed in its infancy.

The new “Greeks” party of Kasidiaris, number 2 in the hierarchy of the old HA, having rallied a potential that ranges from far-right cadres, adventurers and careerists, to the “traditional” Nazis – remnants of the weakened mother-organization, is attempting to imprint the far right-nationalist swamp electorally and claim its entry into the Parliament, with all that this implies. On the other hand, the government of New Democracy, for electoral reasons, to cut off the leakage to the right and to “cleanse” itself of its own far-right policies and cadres, is choosing to pass a law to block the entry of Kasidiaris’ party in the upcoming elections.

Of course, we have no illusions that bourgeois democracy and the State have the slightest intention of confronting fascism and its groups. On the contrary, if history has shown us anything, both in this country and worldwide, it is the organic interconnection of far-right nationalist groups with the State, capital, the police, the army, and their use of them at will. And the dirty role of the fascists is enhanced all the more so in crisis situations such as the current one, where class inequalities are exacerbated, where far-right politics is the official agenda of the State and the police and army are killing at the borders, in the ATs and on the streets. Either by disorienting the class camp with ethnic and racial ideas, or by brute force. They are the ones who have over time taken it upon themselves to attack militants and political spaces, to terrorize youth and lgbtqia+ people by imposing silence in the streets, to keep the multi-ethnic proletariat disciplined with beatings and murders, to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of capital with attacks on unions and strike-breaking mechanisms.

For our part, the anti-fascist world of struggle must raise a real blockade on the fascists, as it did in the past. Every day, with methodology and multiform action, to crush the nationalist paramilitary groups in the neighbourhoods, workplaces, schools, universities, stadiums and wherever else they attempt to raise their heads. We must not leave an inch to the fascists. Again, and for as many times as it takes. At the same time, understanding fascism as something not detached from the dominant world of power, to strengthen the struggles against the State, capital, patriarchy, against the system that gives birth to fascists and arms their knives.

In this context, we have recently sought out and found some influential scumbags mobilising in or around the “Hellenes” party, to remind them that they have no reason to sleep peacefully.

More specifically:

– the accounting office of the party’s accountant Drandakis Konstantinos, at 11 Xerogianni in area of Zografou, where we vandalized the façade and the interior with stones and paint.

– the law office of Margaritis Phoivos, at 1 Paparrigopoulou Street in area of Gyzi, where we caused material damage to the entrance with sledgehammers and paint.

– the “Blue Shop”, at 20 Theotokopoulou Street in area of Patisia, which supplies fascists with T-shirts and other nationalist prints, where we caused material damage to the interior.

– the house of Konteas Penelopis, a member of “Greeks”, at 44 Charilaou Trikoupis in area of Glyfada, which we targeted with anti-fascist slogans.

– the house of Dimitris Grillas, a leading member of the National Front who collaborates with “Greeks”, at 37 Kefallinia Street in Glyfada Area, where we targeted him with anti-fascist slogans.

We call on the people of the struggle to multiply the hostilities against the enemies of freedom.
