Athens, Greece: Claudio Lavazza ,a whole life dedicated to the struggle

English PDF

Greek PDF
Our anarchist comrade Claudio Lavazza has been in prison since 1996, having already completed 25 years of continuous detention. He is one of the longest serving political prisoners in Europe. Claudio was one of the militants who took up arms to oppose capitalist rule politically and militarily.
An insurgent proletarian who participated in conflicts and expropriations in the early years of joining the movement in the dynamic 1970s in Italy. Armed fighter of the revolutionary movement of the 70’s-80’s afterwards. Member of the Armed Proletarians for Communism, a horizontal guerrilla group with strong ideological influences from workers’ autonomy. Participant in the coalition of groups under the name ‘Organised Communists for Proletarian Liberation’, an armed project to support fugitives and free comrades and comrades-in-arms from prison. Accomplice to the 1981 attack on the prison in Frosinone where imprisoned militants were released.
At a time when the meaning and content of words had not been surrendered to museification, revisionism, and boundary activism. Instead, it found meaning through the practical cultivation of hope in those imprisoned and “exiled” from the legal order by the relentless repression of the state and the parastate. That words like freedom and solidarity would be put into practice with guns in their hands.

Île-de-France: New Year’s fireworks for prisoners are not cancelled!

Saturday 1 January 2022
While the cops were busy spoiling the party of those disappointed by the cancelled fireworks in the fields, we went and set some off in front of several places of incarceration in the Ile de France.
In front of the Mesnil-Amelot detention centre, we set off fireworks and shouted some messages of solidarity with those imprisoned; for freedom, against confinement. In recent months many revolts and escapes have taken place there, and we wanted to show our solidarity. We arrived a bit late, those detained there were no longer in the yard, so unfortunately we didn’t hear them, their voices going in another direction. But other comrades in the area heard them.

Interview with an Anonymous Anarchist On the Mapuche Struggle Against the Occupying Chilean and Argentinian States

Would you like to introduce yourself?
Mari mari pu lamngen ka pu wenuy inche ta domo Santiago warria mew. (Hello brothers, sisters, and comrades; I am a woman in Santiago). I am an antiauthoritarian/anarchist, mother of two children, almost 40 years old, and a part of various networks of independent/radical media and counter-information.
I am currently active in a radio project based in Santiago, focused primarily on anarchism and various other ramblings, now on its 130th episode. I am also involved in the 18th of October Coordinating Committee formed in solidarity with political prisoners in so-called Chile. In this project I work with comrades and lamenten (brothers, sisters, and friends) both in Santiago and in Wallmapu (Mapuche ancestral territory), two places where I have strong personal and political connections. I actively take part in trawun (gatherings) of territorial recuperation, autonomous organizing, and feyentun ka kimun (the preservation of Mapuche spirituality and ancestral knowledge). All of this is from an autonomous viewpoint and with the goal of contributing to a broader struggle from where I stand. For me, under my circumstances, this means my resistance primarily takes place within the reality of the futxa warria (big city).
Could you shine a light on some of the history of Mapuche people’s organizing and resistance against the colonial Chilean state?
To understand the so-called Mapuche conflict, we must know that Wallmapu is the name given to the territory that today is dominated by the Chilean (gulumapu) and Argentinian (puelmapu) states. The resistance and struggle for autonomy and the reclaiming of ancestral territory dates back to the time of the invasion and subsequent colonization, by the Spanish monarchy. The peak of this process occurred between 1800 and 1880 with the “Pacification of Araucania” in this territory and the “Conquest of the Desert” in so-called Argentina. When Chile became a republic, its army continued the legacy of its origins as a violent colonizing force against the Mapuche people.

Thessaloniki, Greece: Evicition of Biologica Squat and Call for Solidarity Week 10-17 January 2022

The state, cops and university lackies decided on 31/12/2021 to realize an eviction that has already been announced the previous months. After unofficial threats for an upcoming eviction of the Biologica squat during the previous years, in September a project agreement was signed and assigned to a contractor, with the aim of “remodeling” and “utilizing” the spaces on the ground floor of the Biology building were the squat used to be. In the plans, of course, they included the squatted area with the intention of demolishing the surrounding walls and turning it into a secretariat room and a waiting room. In New Year’s Eve as in the long gone 1992 – at that time they build the door of the squat – the university campus is surrounded by police forces while underground cops are moving towards the area of the squat. They invade our liberated ground and after conducting a thorough search, while destroying anything that was in the squat, they take pictures of their “grand” findings and they give the space to the workers to finish off the first stage of their plan, the demolition of the walls. After their intervention all of the ground floor appears to be vandalized. We never doubted the pure hate of the state, cops and university lackies towards liberated spaces.
Thessaloniki’s assembly of the Solidarity Fund for Imprisoned, Persecuted Revolutionaries found a home between these walls in 2016. During all these years the squat has been the starting point of struggles and solidarity actions for imprisoned and persecuted companions, both from the structure of the Solidarity Fund and from other groups and individuals with a central idea to resist the state and capitalist barbarism and stench and defend the prisoners of this war. Political and cultural events, book presentations and self-organized bookstores, screenings, collective kitchens and workshops, local and panhellenic assemblies, bars and concerts for the financial support of political prisoners or to cover court expenses … A few words cannot describe the political bonds, trust and companionship that developed within these walls that we found demolished. This demolition cannot destroy them, as they are our way of life and memories which are reflected in our every thought and action.

Italy – The international is happening at night… reading and discussion of the book “Which international?” (Spoleto, 7/1/2022)

THE INTERNATIONAL IS HAPPENING AT NIGHT…
Friday 7th January 2022
5pm: Reading and discussion of the book “Which international?” by Alfredo Cospito and many others (Edizioni Monte Bove, 2021)
«Left-wing unions and parties no longer function. Their role as fire-extinguishers has been replaced by weapons of mass distraction such as racism and patriotism. But for how long? The popular sovereignist madness is weakening parliamentary democracy, undermining it from the foundations. This sort of “populism” is producing contrasting and irrational pulsions which are difficult to manage for those who unleashed them. Today the possibility that our action can open up a crack is becoming real» (Alfredo Cospito, “Vetriolo”, issue 3, February 2019).

Claudio Lavazza free now!

Claudio Lavazza is an anarchist of action who has spent the last 25 years in Spanish and French jails. A militant in the armed tumult of the 1970s, after a time in Italian jails following the activities of PAC (Armed Proletarians for Communism), his life went from being a clandestine on the run to an obstinate and never-interrupted enemy of banks and authorities with always ready solidarity with the subversive movements he encountered along his path. Arrested in Spain in 1996 following a gunfight after an unsuccessful bank robbery, he engaged in the fight against the Spanish special prison, the FIES regime inflicted on him for 8 years. After 24 years’ imprisonment he was extradited to France where a sentence of 10 years for a big heist that took place in a Bank of France branch in 1986 was awaiting him. In spite of the fact that European law establishes that the accumulation of the sentence served in Spain should absorb this other sentence, and that Claudio should have been released on11th December, the prosecutor of Mont de Marsan, who is in charge of his case, continues with excuses and pretexts to play for time regarding Claudio’s release.
Yet another case of revenge of the State to punish a coherent revolutionary who has never repudiated his past and continues to claim the necessity and importance of the struggle against State and Capital.
We are calling a for mobilization from 7th January,2022 when the French judicial offices reopen, so that the authorities responsible unblock Claudio’s release. An anarchist international solidarity poster will be also available shortly, printed in many languages (an email address to order copies will be spread).

“Making Ideas into a Revolt” Conversations at the Desquiebre Bookstore and Espacio Fénix

Making ideas into a revolt
-Conversations at the Desquiebre Bookstore
The necessity of sharpening our ideas and positions, of seeing each other’s faces and being able to discuss our concerns, invites us once again to talk about different topics, proposed with fellowship for this month of January, a collective approach from our own anti-authoritarian perspectives.
The physical spaces, the concrete instances where we get together to discuss, sharpen and give & receive feedback are vital for the circulation of our black ideas, to enhance our experiences in continuous learning, always in a non-hierarchical way.
