Athens, Greece: The final destruction of Exarcheia square has begun

Recently trucks have been unloading concrete bases at the Exarchia square construction site. They are the bases that will support the new sheets of the construction site extension. This development suffocates the streets around the square in a continuation of the general plan of desertification and gentrification of the neighbourhood of Exarcheia.

For the square, this means further occupation of the public space, cutting off from the world its minimal remaining free space as a meeting and socializing point. Around the now larger construction site the police presence will be more intense and suffocating, making it even more difficult to hold gatherings, events and political coming together in general.

Komotini, Greece: Reoccupation of Anarchist Steki Utopia A.D., book presentation event of ‘Which International?’ + Intervention by comrade Francesco Rota from Vetriolo newspaper

On Wednesday 29 May we reoccupied the Anarchist Steki Utopia A.D. where we held the planned event on the book presentation of the interview of the anarchist nihilist Alfredo Cospito in the anarchist Italian newspaper Vetriolo, a telephone intervention and an information from an Italian comrade about the 41BIS regime and the current situation in Italy, while a text was sent by a comrade of the newspaper Vetriolo which was translated into Greek and read at the event, followed by an update from a comrade on the new penal code and the event ended with a discussion, after some questions were asked to the Italian comrade.

Greece: Thanos Chatzianggelou – On the misery of repression towards my family circle

We once declared that the first thing to die in war is the truth. Today, along with the truth, morality accompanies death. In war, as painful as it is to realize the necessity of your existence, there are rules. Those rules are once again being broken by my pack of persecutors.

I spent almost two and a half years as a prisoner in their cells of democracy. In hooded interrogation offices, in the corridors and halls of the inquisition, in cages and concrete tombs. And in all these years not a single moment has passed from my mind to bargain my political identity with what it carries as a legacy on it. Today I am back on the streets with a set of restrictions but my conscience is clear for what I have done.

About the Anarchist comrade Andrea F. Greece

On April 22, comrade A.F. was arrested in tjhe city of Patras after the anti-terrorist police raided his house and he was remanded in custody on the charge of being a member of a terrorist organisation. Comrade A.F. has been an active presence in the anti-authoritarian-anti-fascist-anarchist space for 17 years, both in Patras and in the rest of the country. For almost two decades he has co-organised in self-organised political assemblies and groups, he has fought for social and class issues, while he has been present in every just fight and claim against capitalism and power.

On Monday, April 22, the anti-terrorists raided the house of comrade Andrea F. in Patras, kidnapped him and took him to Athens. He is facing serious charges under the Terrorism Act. Once again the anti-terrorist scenarios are proclaimed as indisputable truth, regardless of whether they collapse like a house of cards dozens of times in the courts. In any case, the prosecuting authorities are not interested in anything other than gaining impressions and producing work to the order of the respective government, serving political expediencies, especially in view of the European elections. The entrenchment of a sense of security translates into brute force and repression, control and discipline, and police-military management of social issues.

GATHERING – RESPONSE TO THE PROSECUTIONS OF ANTIFASCISTS FOR THE BUDAPEST CASE (Athens,Greece)

GATHERING IN DEFENCE OF MILITANT ANTIFASCISM – Friday May 24, 19:00 embassy of Hungary, Vasileos Konstantinou 38, Athens

Every year since 1997, on the 11th of February, a large number of far-right and neo-Nazi groups flock to Budapest for public events, commemorating the attempted escape of the besieged Nazi SS and Wermacht troops and their local collaborators from Budapest in 1945, shortly before the liberation of the city from the Red Army forces. This day is a reference point and meeting point for the European far right and takes place with the full tolerance of the Hungarian state, as this date is presented as a day of historical remembrance by the apologists and nostalgists of the Nazis.

On 11 February 2023, the Hungarian police made 6 arrests, with the Italian comrade Ilaria and the German comrade Tobias being in Hungarian prisons since then, accused of attacking Neo-Nazis during public far-right events in Budapest on the occasion of the so-called Memorial Day. In particular, Ilaria is accused of participating in two attacks against Nazis, with the aggravating circumstance of “endangering a victim’s life”, while also being accused of knowing, without herself being involved, of the existence of an international criminal association that organized the attacks in questions. While our German comrade Tobias along with another German comrade are being accused of participation in a criminal organization.

Athens,Greece: Attack on the MAT (riot cops) in Exarcheia square for Mauricio Morales present!

Shortly after midnight on Saturday 18/5, we carried out a coordinated attack on the MAT protecting the metro construction site in Exarchia square. We attacked them simultaneously from three different streets, Themistokleous, Solomou and Metaxas. The cops, once again, were running in panic trying to get away from the fires.

This action came amid a time when the sheet metal of the construction site is expanding, where the government is preparing the ground for new more repressive measures, both in the universities and more widely in the neighborhoods, taking advantage as usual of the summer season when the possibilities for organized and mass resistance are reduced. So this is our response to remind them that, as always, they will find us in front of them.

15 years after the death of Mauricio Morales we send a signal of fire and complicity from Greece to Chile, honoring the international cooperation that existed between these two lands not many years ago. Let the slogan “spark in Santiago, fire in Athens” become a reality again.

On the evening of April 15th we decided to show our solidarity in some way with the Palestinian people who are experiencing Israel’s genocidal violence. We therefore attacked a hotel with Israeli interests with paint while writing slogans at the met (Preservable apartment building of modern interwar architecture)  at 25 Metsovou Street, thus attacking Israeli capital which is also contributing to the gentrification of the Exarcheia neighbourhood. At the same time we attacked the starbucks in Glyfada with hammers and spraypaint while a fire extinguisher was opened in the kitchen resulting in the suspension of the store. Starbucks was targeted because of their support (financial and moral) to the IDF.

Freedom to the Fighter Andreas F. (Mesologgi ,Greece)

On the 22nd Andreas F. was kidnapped by the lackeys of counter-terrorism and the conventional police of Patras. He was taken to Athens for questioning and imprisoned. The cops raided his house, trying to find anything that could contribute to their fabricated incriminatory account. On the 26th the attack on the struggling social base by orgious repression was supplemented by an attack on the “Annex” university occupation and the arrest of 26 comrades.

The dogs of the state undertake ruthless war against the movement of Patras in order to completely crush it. What has happened is more contemporary than ever, and it is the responsibility of anyone struggling to reverse the roles. For the fear of those who sew and maintain it. Let their terrorism not intrude on society and our conciences.

Athens,Greece: On an international day of action in solidarity with the arrested comrade D.Klette and comrades E.Staub and B.Garweg, who are persecuted as members of the RAF.

On Sunday, 14/4, responding to the call of the International Red Aid on an international day of action in solidarity with the arrested comrade D.Klette and comrades E.Staub and B.Garweg, who are persecuted as members of the RAF, we held a solidarity gathering outside the German embassy. The gathering lasted about an hour, with the comrades that participated shouting slogans. The banner was opened on Loukianou Street and leaflets were distributed.

Greece: 15 Athens Economic Blockade for Palestine, Statement for April 15th

We are an initiative of people in Solidarity with the Palestinian Resistance and we denounce the genocide of the Palestinian people perpetrated by the colonial state of Israel.

The tactics of the Israeli army are among the most horrific and inhumane ever seen- the indiscriminate air strikes, the consistant humiliation and starvation,the bombardment of hospitals and camps -, and they confirm with certainty the historic will of the apartheid regime of Israel to annihilate Palestine and the Palestinian people, which began with the “Catastrophe”/”Naqba” in 1948 and led to the displacement of 7.6 million Palestinians, the majority of Palestinian society.

As we enter the seventh month of horrific attacks by the Zionist Occupation Military Forces throughout Gaza and other Palestinian territories, which have claimed over 35 000 victims, including over 13 000 children, the silence and complicity of most Western governments, supposed guardians of human rights, is intolerable.

In the early hours of Thursday 14/3 we carried out an incendiary attack on 5 buses of the Kanasis private school on Taxilou Street in Zografou area. The result of this was the complete destruction of the buses as well as damage to the building itself. Even at the operational level, the school program was completely disorganised.

First of all, we want to make it clear that we are not in favour of either private or public-state education. The aim of the present educational system is “domestication”, civilizing loyal subjects through the inculcation of the values and principles of the system of domination and the production of disciplined slaves. The way of teaching is completely standardized and sterile, cut off from practical experience, oriented towards the welfare of the techno-industrial system. Every trace of initiative and creativity is neutralized, making it difficult to develop and sharpen critical thinking. Another goal of the educational system is the construction of personalities entirely in harmony with the normative standards and norms implemented through the punishment-reward dichotomy.

During the last few days we received information regarding an upcoming eviction of Evangelismos squat, just shortly after the evictions of the Kastelli Hill squats in Chania, in the form of a total attack against squats in Crete. The possibility of a new operation was something that was also indicated by the deal between University of Crete and National Technical University of Athens for a building survey, costing 744.000€. At this point, we have valid and specific information about this upcoming eviction as well, since counting 22 years of struggle, Evangelismos is part of the local society of Heraklion, with deep roots and networks within it, and we are in a position to know anything.

For the last 75 years the Palestinian people have been in a state of war having suffered persecution, imprisonment, torture, mass murder, checkpoint control, settlements, targeted deprivation of basic needs, inside an open prison fenced off and fully controlled by the military, Gaza.

The methodical Israeli genocide was further exacerbated after the attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, when the Israeli army began a ground military operation in the Palestinian territories, relentlessly bombing the civilian population, hospitals and social structures, with the blessing of the Western powers, of NATO and its allies.
