Sabotage on the Northvolt Site: Arming the Forest (Canada)

One of Montéregie’s last natural environments is in jeopardy! The planned construction of the Northvolt battery plant in Saint-Basile-le-Grand is an ecocidal disgrace. If this project goes ahead, 1.4 square kilometers of wetlands and woodlands will be razed to the ground, serving the greenwashing strategy of our governments, and doing so with public funds.

The area is home to a diverse fauna (bats, birds, amphibians, turtles, snakes, etc.), including several species classified as “threatened” or “endangered”. There are even 142 species of birds that frequent the site! At the same time as public transport companies are undergoing a wave of budget cuts, the provincial and federal governments prefer to give $7.3 billion to the private sector to perpetuate the “car culture”. Instead of investing in more environmentally-friendly collective solutions (trains, buses, car-sharing) in the city and the regions, the governments are perpetuating our dependence on the car, hand in hand with polluting industries and the wealthy.

Berlin, Germany: Against environmental destruction, oppression and war – fire for CEMEX concrete plan

Inspired by a series of actions and sabotages against “the world of concrete” in France (2), Belgium and Switzerland, we visited the CEMEX concrete plant on Schleusenufer in Berlin-Kreuzberg in the early hours of December 27 and used fire to stop several concrete mixer trucks and bring the conveyor belt and a technical building to a standstill.

A master among the climate killers

The wasteland of concrete and asphalt continues to spread. In Germany alone, up to 30 hectares of living soil are buried under the most sought-after building material every day. Roads, squares, commercial areas, industrial plants and houses; huge parts of the earth’s surface are already sealed and infrastructure projects such as dams, freeways, bridges, airports etc. consume several billion tons of concrete every year.

2023 IN REVIEW – UNOFFENSIVE REPORTS.

Another year has passed and because we apparently enjoy spending hours doing the maths, we have a list of the 2023 reported animal liberation actions by country, type and target!

It is worth mentioning, as always, that this list is in no way exhaustive as many people might decide to take action and not report it and because we keep an eye on platforms that use English, Spanish, Italian and German as their main languages, but we might’ve missed many other actions published in other platforms or by other countries!

The total of reported animal liberation actions in 2023 is 99. Of those, 58 are sabotages, 30 are liberations and 11 are arsons.

Surprisingly and unlike other years, action against the flesh industry and sabotage against hunting infrastructure have equalised, with 40 reported actions against the meat industry and 41 against hunting. This is notable as in previous years we have seen a huge disparity in the numbers, with hunting infrastructure reported a lot more times than any other kind of target.

December, Santiago Chile: We dedicate this small sabotage to Sebastian Oversluij Seguel.

INDIVIDUALS SABOTAGE TWENTY SNARES.

Via: @anarcoveganismo.info

ENGLISH (translation)

“Walking in the countryside near Lampa we found homemade traps for hares, with a metal stick buried underground holding a metal wire to catch wild species. We did not hesitate to dig them out and break them. There were 20 in total, they were rendered completely useless and taken away from the location.

Loire/Puy-de-Dôme , France : double attack on Aubert et Duval steelworks, supplier to war industries

Loire/Puy-de-Dôme: double attack on Aubert et Duval steelworks, supplier to war industries

During the night of November 19 to 20, we attacked the power supply of two production sites of the Aubert et Duval corporation:

At Firminy, we sawed through a pylon on the 220kV line supplying the site. It only partially fell.

– In Ancizes-Comps, we also set fire to a 220kV line, at the point where the high-voltage cables went underground. We were able to get close and place our devices at the foot of the sheaths, without harm.

Aubert et Duval is a key player in the French military industry. It supplies parts for Naval Group submarines, Dassault Rafales and Framatom nuclear power plants.

Bremen (Germany): attack on “Space Tech Europe” trade fair

Bremen , attack on “Space Tech Europe” trade fair

Attack on Space Tech Europe – Europe’s largest trade fair and conference for aerospace technology and services.

Space Tech Expo Europe

Space Tech Europe takes place from November 14 to 16, 2023, for the sixth time in the exhibition halls of the city of Bremen. It is Europe’s largest and most important exhibition and conference for space technologies and services. Here, the facets of the aerospace industry are brought to life through in-depth discussions and the companies involved. The aim: business, networking and presentation of new developments. Halls 4 to 6 of the show are dedicated to space production and services, components and systems engineering for spacecraft, as well as space launchers and satellite programs. More than 650 exhibitors from over 40 countries are present. A significant proportion of these exhibitors operate under the Military keyword. Alongside the five largest space companies Ariane, Orbitale Hochtechnologie Systeme (OHB), Airbus Defense and Space, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Center for Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM), DSI Aerospace, Polaris Spacecraft, Shieldex and Ferchau, the city of Bremen and its university (Humans on Mars) will also be represented. Parallel to the show and at the same venue, a conference is held to discuss technical, political and strategic details.

Attack from the rear

We took advantage of the trade fair to take an offensive action by an anti-capitalist and anti-militarist climate movement in the late afternoon of November 14. As participants gathered inside for networking, we met to express our hostility. We blocked off the street behind the exhibition center with barricades of burning tires, and threw bottles of paint and fireworks against the glass facades of the halls. It all came crashing down. The aim was to interrupt their comfortable exchanges with an offensive intervention. Representatives of the arms industry had to be confronted with the consequences of their business.

TEN-T, Military Logistics, and Availability: Using the Scan–Med Corridor and Its Current Sub-Projects as an Example

Preliminary remarks by the authors

We are at the beginning of a new age of wars. Wars between transnational power blocs, wars between existing and nascent nation states and wars against both fleeing and rebellious populations. Wars over strategic resources, wars over food and water, wars over geostrategic power constellations and territorial claims. But no matter what the wars of the present and future may be fought over, we firmly refuse to join any party in them, as every war is directed exclusively against the exploited and oppressed of this world and only benefits the powerful in increasing their wealth and their domination over life. However, it cannot follow from this that we will passively watch as the rulers prepare the slaughter, commit genocides and massacres and bring destruction and misery upon people and life itself. While it is clear that we will never turn our guns on each other at the command of the MASTERS, nothing in the world will prevent us from fighting with our own weapons against the mere facilitation of war, against nationalist propaganda, the military-industrial process of progressive genocide, and not least the very infrastructure of war.

And it is precisely this infrastructure of war, or today’s modern “dual use” infrastructure of the “peaceful” exploitation and military destruction of people and nature, that we want to focus on in this article. We’ll use the example of the so-called Scan–Med corridor (Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor), one of the EU’s most important infrastructure transport axes, as well as some of its current sub-projects for expansion and constructive reinforcement. In doing so, our aim is not to yet again demonstrate that the fight against war always includes the fight against the “peaceful”, i.e. frictionless exploitation and destruction, against the industrial and colonial project, but rather to make a small contribution to pointing out concrete points of attack in this fight. At the same time, we encourage people to carry out their own analyses of the military-industrial complex, its raw materials and its logistics, with nothing less in mind than its efficient sabotage. We feel the lack of such an analysis all the more sharply because we are of the opinion that our ability to fight domination (and its wars) is irrevocably dependent on knowing its infrastructures, understanding the mechanisms that make them function and, not least of all, possessing the necessary skills as well as a certain routine for attacking it at identified weak points. Anarchist comrade Alfredo M. Bonanno has died on 6th December at the age of 86

You will always be alive with us through our action and our lives. “ACTION REPLACES TEARS”

Alfredo Maria Bonanno, born in 1937 in Catania, Sicily, is one of the most prolific contemporary anarchists, responsible for Anarchismo editions and other publishing ventures. In 1977 he was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his book La Gioia Armata (Armed Joy). This book had been published at a historical moment when the Italian revolutionary movement was openly going on the offensive, while similar conditions existed in other European countries (Germany, Spain, England, Greece, Chile and more) and the question of violence was on the daily agenda. His contribution lies in a celebration of the pervasive class violence that liberates and satisfies the individual, but at the same time he sounds the alarm about the emergence of the armed party, which reduces the class conflict to a militaristic dimension, imposing the mediation of a small minority of armed men on the complexity of tens of thousands of people struggling by all means against the current reorganization of Capital, which at that moment seemed weak.

In the spirit of the book, all authentic liberating and destructive action comes from a logic of satisfaction in the struggle, not a self-sacrificing duty in accordance with the dictates of a micro-bureaucracy. The Italian Supreme Court ordered the destruction of the copies of the book that were in circulation, and sent a circular to public libraries to dispose of any copies they might have had.

Several librarians objected to this Nazi-inspired tactic. Its circulation was generally banned, and copies were confiscated from the homes of anarchist militants in the context of police raids on houses.

Shortly afterwards, the author was accused of being an “instigator” of the Azione Rivoluzionaria, an armed organisation of 1976-79, which operated on the basis of “affinity groups” throughout central Italy, mainly against newspapers and party offices, and similar “manipulative mechanisms of consensus-building”. In 1979 the organisation was practically dismantled with the arrest of 86 people and the arrest of Salvatore Cinieri and Gianfranco Faina. The first went on to die in prison in a scuffle with criminal inmates when he defended a prisoner suspected of submitting an escape plan, while the second was released to die of lung cancer after being diagnosed with a tumour while in custody.

Munich (Germany): another attack on a city construction site

Munich : another attack on a city construction site

At around 4 a.m. on Friday November 10, Munich firefighters arrived a little late at Johanneskirchen Straße. There, an excavator and a dump truck, located on the tramway construction site run by the municipal public transport company MVG (Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft), were burning up.

The two construction machines were destroyed, with the flames causing damage estimated at 300,000 euros. The fact that they were separated by several meters, leading investigators to suspect the existence of several sources of ignition, prompted the Munich Criminal Police and the State Protection Service (Staatsschutz) to take over the investigation.
