The Libertad library needs you! Paris,France

The anarchist library “Libertad” was created in Paris in 2010 as a place ‘where experiences and perspectives can resonate with each other, in order to put an end to a deadly world based on the logic of exploitation and domination’. Month after month, many discussions, debates, talks and film screenings have taken place there, among the thousands of books, archives and zines to be borrowed or taken away. Its walls have echoed the voices of comrades from other continents who have come to share their struggles.

They have allowed us to collect documents and
testimonies of past struggles to better deepen the possibilities of the present. They spoke out in solidarity with imprisoned comrades and the waves of attacks on the existent. They vibrated with lively debates about the new assaults of domination on freedom and the living, and the different paths to undertake to bring down the world as it is.

Many have found in these debates a source of inspiration for ruptures as well as beautiful encounters, ‘so many opportunities to leave the alienating paths of resignation and to sharpen our criticisms for the here and now’.

Over the past fourteen years, the Libertad library has always made a
point of staying away from institutional funding, thanks in particular
to support events like meals, concerts, but also donations and
resourcefulness. Located in the Belleville neighbourhood of Paris, the library is faced with a rent that has become more and more burdensome every year. That’s why we’re making this exceptional appeal for financial support, so that we can pay off the accumulated rent debt that is strangling us… and continue to explore the communicating vessels between ideas and action in complete autonomy, without masters or slaves. We need to raise several thousand of euros to pay off this gap and continue to pay the half-yearly rent of 6,000 euros. We welcome all kinds of anonymous donations and public initiatives organised on a decentralised basis, which will of course be added to our own.
