A flashback on Operation Panico
Now that the sentences of Operation Panico have been made final by the court of Cassation(https://ilrovescio.info/2023/07/15/operazione-panico-condanne-confermate-in-cassazione-paska-condotto-in-carcere-a-bologna/), it seems appropriate to remember – at least briefly – the facts for which these comrades were sentenced. We are doing this by republishing a poster spread throughout Trentino and beyond in the summer of 2019, on the eve of the first degree sentence. While the charge of criminal association fell in the second degree, and Giovanni has been acquitted for the “New Year’s bang”, almost all the other charges have been confirmed on appeal and again by the Cassation of Rome. We also recall that Paska, arrested in Bologna, has been transferred to the prison of Opera in Milan. To him and to all those sentenced our full solidarity: if they are “innocent”, they fully deserve it; if they are “guilty”, they deserve it even more!

A FLASH OF MEMORY AND REVENGE
In Florence, on the night of new year 2017, a homemade device was found by the Digos in the iron shutter of the fascist bookshop “il Bargello”, linked to Casapound. Intervening without protection, perhaps drunk with the revelries, one of the police bomb disposal unit is seriously wounded after exploding it in his face.
About a month later Operation Panico is unleashed, which in two separate roundups sees the setting up of precautionary measures against various anarchists, including some house-arrests and imprisonments. At the same time the years-long squats “Villa Panico” and “la Riottosa” are also evicted.
In addition to criminal association and other minor charges, the comrades are accused in various ways of two other attacks on the previous headquarters of the fascist bookshop.
For the “new year’s bang” three comrades – Giovanni, Vespertino and Paska – have been in prison for over a year also charged with attempted murder of the police bomb-disposal expert.
On July 22 [2019], the court of Florence will issue the first instance judgment.
We are not interested in knowing if the comrades actually carried out these actions or not. It is enough for us to know their choice of life of refusal of every kind of fascism, racism and oppression, and the society that produces them.
We know that they have never practiced indiscriminate violence, least of all towards those who do not have money or “adequate” documents. We know they have never stoked the war between the poor. We also know that towards certain atrocities these comrades harbour a just and above all coherent hatred. From conferences of neonazis on the families and emigrants left to die in the sea, from a Home Secretary that claims licence to kill for the police and Casapound that publishes their books, the fascists continue to continue to beat, kill, rape or threaten to do so (as in Viterbo e a Casal Bruciato). There are many saying these are bad times. Who will protect us? The Constitution? The police? Or these [communist] party “antifascists” who are only just discovering “bella ciao”, after having opened concentration camps for immigrants (yesterday CPT, then CIE, today CPR), filled the streets with soldiers, launched one “security package” after another, rehabilitated the “boys of Salò”, funded the Libyan government and its lagers…?
Welcome to more flashes of memory and revenge, to remember who the fascists are and that hitting them is right.
