Caen (Calvados): the district loses its electronic leashes
A fiber optic cabinet vandalized in Caen, subscribers deprived of internet connections

Bad surprise for the inhabitants of the street of capitaine Boualam in Caen (Calvados), and the surrounding area, Saturday evening: television, telephone, Internet… Everything stops around 21 h 30. Shortly after, some people discovered that a fiber optic cabinet (equipment that connects subscribers to the fiber optic network deployed in part of the city) was vandalized on this street, located near the Lorge district: doors were forced and the wiring damaged.
Orange, in charge of the network in Caen, confirms this act of vandalism “which affects many homes”. The exact nature of the damage was not yet known, but it did not appear to be criminal [sic], unlike telephone cabinets where thieves sometimes seek to recover copper.
Orange has already been confronted with such acts in Calvados, but never before in Caen.
