Greece: text of Comrade B. Stathopoulos at the Court of Appeal on 9/12

….With his rant, the prosecutor is underestimating the intelligence of everyone here. Obviously for him an appeals court shouldn’t even exist and probably not a first instance court either but straight to jail, and probably in times past it would have been him giving the order to the firing squads. But for 8 months here we have been telling the truth and not inaccuracies and lies as the anti-terrorist police, the court of first instance and the prosecutor did, but he and the others I mentioned are part of a fabricated case, they are on duty in order to convict me and ruin my life.

That is why they do not substantiate the charges. It’s in the logic of command and control. On the other hand, we’ve been defending what we’ve said from the start.

First that the file is a fabrication and second the concept and act of solidarity, as well as the fact that the reason I am here is that I am an anarchist and that I am part of the wider anarchist/subversive movement. Obviously for the State and power it is primary for them that child rapists and rapists (like Lignadis and the policemen from Omonia police station) the murderers of a 15 year old anarchist and 16 year old Roma and various other people (like Korkoneas and other policemen) and the fascists of X.A, (Golden down neo-nazis )more than half of whom are on parole, are out of jail, not the anarchists who practice the concept of solidarity.

I deny all accusations of theft, I am not a member of the Revolutionary Self-Defence and I was not involved in any arms transfer.

Finally, I would like to say a few words I have taken from Miguel de Cervantes addressed to all of you here “Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be. To change the world, my friend Sancho, is not madness nor utopia. It’s Justice.”
