Alfredo Cospito – 30 March, 2023 ”Remains dangerous and without a trace of remorse”

Alfredo Cospito – 30 March, ”Remains dangerous and without a trace of remorse”

Today, 4 days after the decision of the Supervisory Court and after the general outcry not only from comrades but also from the whole of the progressive – and not only – world, the Italian media – after days of silence where there is no substantial information about his health condition – are reporting and highlighting the ‘reasons’ for the rejection. Reasons such as the judges’ insistence that Alfredo, in addition to 41bis, ‘could have indicated, organised and communicated hits and targets to the FAI comrades’, with the aim of carrying them out.

At a time when more than 200 lawyers and judges in the country have signed a petition to protest against his illegal detention in 41bis, the media are speaking of the ‘obvious danger’ because of which the court has again rejected the appeal of the defence, bringing back the original decision of the Supreme Court of Rome in December 2022, according to which ‘if Alfredo had remained in maximum security, he would have continued to ‘lean’ on his ‘free associates’ and be a point of reference and a source of indication and planning as to the lines to be followed and the targets to be hit’… .

‘He is extremely dangerous, persistent and unbreakable’

The ‘reasons’ are further explained in the sentence filed today, Thursday 30 March, as follows:

The ‘powerful expressions’ contained in some of Alfredo’s texts are ‘repetitive’ and ‘further reinforced by the dissemination of information’. According to the Supreme Court and the ministerial order implementing 41bis, they were considered to be clear indications of the dangerousness of Alfredo, who, if he had been left with the same means and communicated with the outside world, would have been a ‘threat to democracy’. ‘He has never shown any signs of dissociation or remorse, on the contrary, he has continued in his writings until recently – when he was completely cut off from communication with the outside world – to support the methods of the armed struggle’.

Furthermore, the media are doing everything to exacerbate the climate by bringing to the surface the Adinolfi case – for which Alfredo has already served his sentence – reinforcing it with the allegations of C. Castellano – who was targeted and wounded in the same way (in the legs) in 1977 by the Red Brigades. Castellano ‘remembers the recent’ (10 years ago) threatening letter he received from the FAI (concerning the creation of a branch of the Esaote company in the Erzelli ‘technology park’ in Genoa). On 30 March ’23 he recalled with great pain and anger that after Adinolfi’s shooting, ‘they followed him, they knew his car number plate and his home’, concluding that ‘there may be the most absolute disagreement, but respect for the individual is something fundamental’ (…)

As we all understand, the hired media are stifling the Italian and world press with the narratives proposed by the lines they have taken from the Meloni government. Personal communication with comrades and lawyers in Italy has become even more difficult at this stage. Even Alfredo’s communication with his defence is being obstructed in every way. What the media, the government and the judiciary do not understand is that with each additional ‘word’, it is becoming clearer and clearer to intelligent people around the world that Alfredo Cospito is being persecuted, remains in the 41bis regime, and is clearly dying for his ideas. And their terrorism and crime is taking place before our very eyes. Anyone who remains absent or neutral to such a crime is an accomplice.

Comrade Alfredo, light of the global struggle against 41bis, their terrorism will not pass and the struggle will continue.
