ENCOUNTERS RE ANARCHISTS AND WAR

What is the State if it is not the organization of power, […] power having no
other object than domination, and domination being real only when everything
that hinders it is subjugated; […] between all States that exist side by side,
war is permanent and their peace is only a truce.

Bakunin

There are things that don’t change with the passage of time especially if they are not wiped out for good. The bosses are bosses even if they have learned better and better to clean up their image by using more captivating names, even if they disguise themselves as “democracy” and “rights”. In order to remain bosses they have always needed wars as instruments of distribution and control of resources and people, as production of social consensus and to defend their class privileges.

Therefore the analysis and actions that anarchists carried forward in the face of War in different historical times remain topical.

To start form the First world war is necessary because now as then, if the word “internationalism” is misinterpreted it pushes comrades to enlist on the side of a State, believing they are on the side of the oppressed people.

The second encounter will focus on the Spanish revolution and on anarchist partisans during the Second world war. From these experiences we can also learn a lot about putting our lives at stake by struggling and then finding ourselves as pawns of those who have already planned how to get hold of power.

As revolutionary anarchists, as internationalists, our enemies are ALL the States, ALL the bosses, ALL oppressors.

The only conflict we accept is that which was defined as “the good war” a little more than a hundred years ago, i.e. social war. To talk about the war of the bosses, therefore, means somehow to talk about social, world revolution as the one and only perspective that can stop any war, present and future.
