Spain – Barcelona 27F – Bail conditions fixed for imprisoned comrades

We receive and spread (a partial translation of communiques received):
On 10th November the cost of bail release for six anarchist comrades, in pretrial detention in Barcelona (C.P. Brians 1) for 8 months, has been set at 40,000 euros for each one! They are accused of illicit association and of having acted with violent acts in a coordinated way, such as burning a cop van on La Rambla during the ten days of clashes in Barcelona in February, in the context of the demonstrations for the liberation of rapper Pablo Hazel.

In his latest statement the prosecutor affirms that the previous accusation, that of “attempted murder” (of a cop inside the van), is no longer valid because expert firemen established that the danger to the cop due to the incendiary liquid outside the van was very low. The “radical left” party CUP, which organized the demo of 27th February never put any pressure on the government for the liberation of the comrades nor did they express solidarity.
Only one of the comrades was able to pay the bail and is currently out of prison. This huge amount shows the ugly face of Spanish/Catalan justice, which first makes the comrades pay with 8 and a half months’ prison then, seeing that its left political arm (the Catalan government) is strongly compromised, prides itself in stealing a load of money from the anarchists, their friends and families, despite the fact that it cannot prove its fanciful accusations.
This is a call for carrying out actions of solidarity to get our comrades out of prison.
